1967 Mercedes-benz 200d Base 2.0l on 2040-cars
New London, Connecticut, United States
This is a very fun car to drive, Anytime I take it somewhere, I get questions about it. Recently, while at a gas station, a lady asked if it would be okay if she had her picture taken with it! The car starts and idles nicely, will go 65 on the freeway and will stop as well. I replaced the rotors and driver's side caliper and have a replacement caliper for the right, however it does not seem to need it at this time. There is some rust as you can see and will need to be addressed at some time. There is rust in the trunk on the driver's side as well. The front bumper has some rust on the passenger's side. I have another front bumper that will go with the car. You can drive this car as is, or have it all fixed up and have a showpiece to take to the car shows. The rims and tires on it are not the original, but the original rims with tires will be sold with the car. This car is sold where is, as is and has no warranty written or implied. I will help with shipping, you just need to set it up and provide me with the shipping information. The car comes with the owner's manual, list of service stations, Mercedes Benz products for the maintenance of cars, service book, and German owners manual as well. The car will come with a Bill of Sale only, no titles in Connecticut for cars this old. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome
Tue, 24 Sep 2013This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.
UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working
Wed, 06 Feb 2013Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...
Mercedes says it's tops in luxury sales for 2012, not BMW
Tue, 19 Feb 2013It turns out that Mercedes-Benz North America has legitimate claim to being the top selling luxury nameplate in the US in 2012.
While sources such as Autodata had put BMW in the top spot, registration data from R.L. Polk shows that Mercedes customers registering new vehicles topped the Bavarian automaker in the most recent calendar year. Polk says Benz posted 274,123 registrations, compared with BMW's 268,498.
In terms of sales posted, BMW had bested Benz 281,460 to 274,134. But sales are recorded somewhat inconsistently from automaker to automaker. Some book the sales as soon as they are shipped from factory to dealer. There is perennial gamesmanship between the two German rivals, and the sales numbers suggest that BMW pushed out some extra sheetmetal to dealers in the last four weeks of the year.
