Buy It Now Price is $1475 Under NADA Clean Retail value.  Reserve price is lower - this is a bargain, not a steal.  I am a serious seller seeking serious buyer.

Engine runs strong - no smoke, no compression issues, no miss-fires, no stalls.  Transmission is strong - smooth, positive shifts.

A/C ice cold, excellent condition, new paint original color, non-smoker. PW/PDL/PM / Cruise Control / ABS / Single CD/AM/FM. Drop-in bed liner. 3rd door on driver's side (see photo).

Front suspension upper & lower A arms & tie rod linkage replaced at 87k with Chevy parts - no modification.  Steering is as tight as the day it rolled off the assembly line.

Michelin HydroEdge 235/60/R16 (99T) M+S since 87k.  Extra set of KMC 18" wheels  on it when purchased.  They come with, but those tires are done.

Three acccidents on Auto Check, one is in error: 1/23/07 in Kissimmee was prior to my ownership (Case #:08652128); 6/3/11 in Jacksonville Beach, minor damage to LF fender forward of wheel well and below headlight height, and minor damage to front bumper & mount (Case #:110002628) - hence the full paint job -- the error is 6/11/11, (Case #:465282) - that was my DL, but a rental vehicle.  I have the accident report to prove it - so does Enterprise and Allstate.

I don't expect the full Clean Retail price. I own it, but I'm not married to it.  I don't need 2 trucks (there's a 2003 S-10 Xtreme sitting in the driveway next to this one - in case you were wondering why I'm selling.)  The S-10 Xtreme edition is getting harder to find than when I bought this in Oct-'07, but if you're looking for one, you already know that.

Also offered on auto site concurrent with this listing, and for sale locally (sign in window).  First come, first served.  Thank you.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
