1964 Chevy Impala Impala Ss on 2040-cars

Year:1964 Mileage:93000

All I have done to the car is charged the battery put some fresh gas in it and give it a quick bath. It runs very well and I have drove it up and down my road and the transmission seems to shift well. The brakes are out and I believe it is the master cylinder that needs to be replaced. I was able to drive it using the emergency brake. As I stated the car runs very well with no smoke or any noises coming from the engine or drive train. The air cleaner states it is a 327 300 HP engine but I do not know for sure if it is the original engine or not.
The car has a great interior in it. The only two spots I found any issues was at the top of the drivers seat there is a small spot (2") where the seam seemed to open up. This I believe could be sewed or maybe even glued shut. Then on the drivers door the arm rest covering has a small split in it. I tried to show both spots in the pictures. The rest of the interior is super. What you see in the pictures is just how I got the car. There is no Armor all or anything applied to it to make it look better. Even the carpet has not rips or tears although it is faded some from the sun. I believe but can not say for sure that it is also the original carpet.

Likewise the car has outstanding trim and bright work on it. There is a small dent (1") in the rear bumper but other then that I believe the stainless and chrome is super straight. As I stated previously I truly believe it was a great original car that had up till the last year or two been very well cared for.

This car will take a little TLC but with it I feel it has the potential to be a great car again. It seems to be harder and harder to find these early Super Sports that have not been modified and fulled with throughout the bast 50 years or so.
As always if you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to get back to you with an answer.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
