Porsche 944 Turbo 1987 Excellent Condition Completly Stock Never Raced Rust Free on 2040-cars

La Mesa, California, United States

Up for sale is a 1987 Porsche 994 Turbo in amazing condition inside and out. AutoCheck certified & guaranteed Clean Title and no accidents reported. This vehicle is completely stock and has the original interior upholstery that is in excellent condition. The paint and body are also in excellent condition. The paint has a deep black shine and is very clean. The car is an absolute looker and is a joy to drive. Completely rust free, this vehicle has been well cared for and garaged in San Diego for the past 21 years, with it registered in WA. The  owner was a Porsche collector and this was one of his first purchases.  The mature owner never raced the vehicle on the track and babied it the whole time.

The previous owner meticulously maintained the vehicle and recently replaced the timing belt and shocks and the brakes pads have 100% life left in the front and 90% rear. We replaced the alternator, motor mounts, and driver window regulator. The car starts right up and has a lot of power when the turbo spools up. It is very smooth at idle and up through the revs due to the new motor mounts. Truly a fast car and great handler. This 944 Turbo is one of the first vehicles to receive dual airbags, which were not available on the non-turbo 944s. Just passed California’s rigorous emissions testing. The leather upholstery and all interior panels are completely stock and intact and all the switches and controls are working. The stereo is stock as well and the speakers are all working. The tires are all wearing perfectly and have lots of life left, with the only negative being that the rear tires are mismatched. The stock 16 inch rims are all true and lacking any road rash. The rims do have some pealing of the silver paint which can be seen in the pics. We would be able to have the wheels refinished for a fee if you would like them perfect. The other negatives would be a typical small crack on the dash near the passenger airbag and the a/c is in need of a charge. The only flaw in the leather is a tiny hole in the driver seat cushion seam near the back right, which can be seen in the picture. Overall this car is in great condition and turns heads wherever it goes. It would take very little work to make it close to perfect. If you are looking for a completely stock example to have as a collector car or just a great condition 944 Turbo to drive, this has got to be one of the nicest ones left out there. They are getting harder and harder to find in this condition.

Porsche Macan spied, all lit up and dodging flurries

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

We've seen the upcoming Porsche Macan testing on surface roads and even on the Nürburgring, but here we have our first spy shots showing a disguised prototype doing some winter testing in snowy conditions. Still obscured by plenty of camouflage attempting to mimic its larger Cayenne sibling, we still can't get a clear look at what the Macan's face and rump are going to look like, although it does appear that some details for the front lighting are starting to emerge.
Below the headlights, those are obviously decals trying to look like turn signal lenses, but it appears that there is still some sort of lighting being hidden judging by the small circles cut into the camo. Lower in the fascia, we can also see there are LED running lights not revealed on past prototypes. The entire rear end of this Macan prototype still appears to be tacked-on camo, but the side view appears to be in production form save for the poorly disguised rear quarter windows.
As we've seen in the past, Porsche engineers are still testing the Macan alongside the Audi Q5 with which it shares its platform. There has been no word as to when we could expect to see the Macan in production or concept form, but we'd have to guess that this compact crossover is getting ready to shed its camo very soon.

Porsche finally moving ahead with flat four engine

Sun, 23 Mar 2014

When Porsche released the first Boxster in 1996 and the first Cayman in 2005, the idea was to create an entry-level model for the German automaker's sports car range. The latest iterations of both closely related models, however, have begun to encroach dangerously on the 911's territory, particularly in their newest GTS specifications. That could be about to change, however, with the introduction of a four-cylinder engine for the compact mid-engined coupe and roadster.
According to Automotive News, Porsche is finally preparing to launch a new boxer four engine in the Boxster and Cayman, following years of speculation. The engine would be based on the same architecture as the company's famous flat six, but with two fewer cylinders to cut weight. Don't expect it to cut much in the way of performance, however: Porsche chief Matthias Muller indicates that the new engine could produce as much as 395 horsepower - significantly more than even the 340hp flat six in the Cayman GTS, suggesting that the engine could even find its way into the 911 as well.
It's no more clear which markets would get the four-cylinder engine, either. But wherever it is offered and in whichever form, it wouldn't be the first time we'd see a Porsche with a four-pot engine. Not by a long shot. Both the classic 912 and 356 were powered by boxer fours, as was the 914 - not to mention the 718 pictured above and the iconic 550 Spyder. The front-engined 924, 944 and 968 packed inline-four engines, but the last of those were discontinued in the 1990s. The prospect of a four-cylinder Boxster/Cayman has been rumored for many years now, most recently joined by the possibility of a four-pot Macan as well.

Porsche kicks off Macan production at revamped Leipzig plant

Sun, 16 Feb 2014

After over two years of construction and roughly 500 million euros ($684 million at current rates) invested, Porsche finally opened its Leipzig, Germany, factory expansion on February 11. The improvements to the plant are dedicated to building the Macan and include a new body shop, paint shop and assembly line that are advancing Porsche's goal to sell 50,000 Macan's per year. The company believes that the new model is going to push it to over 200,000 annual sales 3 years ahead of schedule, and the enlarged branch can support even more Macan production, if there is demand.
"We are totally convinced in the qualities of this location and that the Macan will be a marketing success," said Porsche Chairman Matthias Müller during the opening celebration. The company opened its Leipzig factory in 2002 to build the Cayenne and added Panamera production in 2009.
The Macan models are due to launch in the US this summer with prices starting at $49,900. Scroll down to learn all of the details about the Macan's Leipzig assembly plant.
