West Chicago, Illinois, United States

West Chicago, Illinois, United States

1971 Pontiac GTO
6.6L 400ci V-8 with 4 Speed Manual trans

Runs and drives great, sound great, shifts great!
Hurst Super Shifter with reverse lock out
All lights (headlights, turn signals, brake, dome) work
All gauges work even the horn works
Heater works but the radio does not
Good condition raised white letter tires

It is cold blooded but once warmed up, runs great. It doesnt help that its about 2 degrees out with -15 wind chill but even so, it starts right up.
Needs body work, major work needed is lower quarter panels, trunk and 1 or both rocker panels. Floors have been replaced at one point but passanger under the seat needs work. Good thing is they sell all of these parts everywhere and are not expensive. Frame has only surface rust and in my opinion its solid. Interior needs come tlc as you can see in the pictures.
Only reason im selling is because I have too many projects, if it doesnt sell I will restore it and enjoy it!
Vin is 242371P139453, I found a block number 481988 (known to be one of the best 400 blocks) with intake reading edelbrock performer pontiac.
Title is an open title but I found that it is missing the number 2 between the 4 and 3. I went to the DMV and they said its an easy fix with a form they gave me. All the tags on the car read the correct vin.

http://youtu.be/L6sc6K0Nen4   Here is a youtube video of the car running and a walk around (copy and paste) it was bitter cold about 2 degrees out when I took this video.

Any questions please feel free to contact me, I am available to help load it if you send a transporter or if you would like to come take a look at it.
I require $500 deposit with in 24 hours and payment in full within 3 days of auction end via 1 of these methods ONLY, cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. All funds must clear my bank before car can leave.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
