Her name is Lola. She was going to be a show car. But then her owner up and died. And she sat in the New Mexico sun and fried.

She was nearly invisible in a weed patch in a back yard when she was rescued from her sad fate. Maybe she’s a restoration project, or, sadly a donor car, giving up her good parts so another old, classic Mercedes may live in the glory her former owner envisioned for her.

The body is straight  but there are rust spots along the bottom with one particularly cancerous spot near the driver’s side rear wheel well. One turn indicator is broken, the other is intact. The right rear license plate light is not attached but was found in the trunk. Miraculously, Lola has all four hub caps which are also stored in the trunk along with a missing trim piece and a wasp nest.

The former owner was the second owner and paperwork in the glove box shows he purchased Lola in 1993 and also purchased insurance. According to his widow he died shortly after buying Lola. She ran when parked.

Odometer reading is 71756 but there is no way to know if it’s turned over.

Lola has a clear New Mexico title.  Message me for a link to a gallery of close-up pictures of every speck of rust and wheel well interiors.  I make every effort to represent the car accurately and will respond to all inquiries with more specific responses. However, this car is SOLD AS IS.

Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept crossover leaked ahead of Shanghai debut

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

With just a few days left before the start of the Shanghai Motor Show, images of the Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept compact crossover have emerged online. The little 'ute is based on the small A-Class hatchback, and though it shares an identical wheelbase, is larger in every other dimension.
Looking like a rough-and-tumble five-door hatchback on the tippy toes of its 20-inch wheels, the GLA is most certainly destined for production in a toned down form that will borrow many bits and pieces from other cars based on this platform like the aforementioned A-Class and the CLA-Class sedan. Carscoop reports that the production version of the GLA will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September of this year, with sales to the public starting in 2014.
Since it's based on the A-Class, we expect that the production GLA-Class will be powered by your choice of Mercedes' 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine and a diesel or two, and will offer transmissions that include the company's seven-speed DCT and perhaps a six-speed manual (at least in Europe). If the GLA follows the same path as the two cars before it, expect a GLA45 AMG producing over 300 horsepower, as well. As for what powers the GLA Concept, that just might remain a mystery until the vehicle is officially revealed in China.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed again in 1:18 scale

Fri, 10 May 2013

There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it could end up being a fairly anticlimactic reveal thanks to fully exposed spy shots, a leaked press photo and now images of a diecast version of the luxury sedan. Autoweek.nl has images showing a highly detailed 1:18 scale model of the redesigned S-Class that matches up with everything we've seen so far.
This isn't the first time a model car spoiled a new vehicle's reveal, as the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2013 SRT Viper were both unceremoniously revealed in toy form first. World Car Fans is reporting that the car 2014 S-Class will be officially unveiled on May 15, but at this point, all that's left to wonder about is the official on-sale date and what will be under the hood.

Mercedes FWD platform to last until 2018, convertible and two-seater future uncertain

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz seems to be expecting a lot of success from its front-wheel-drive CLA-Class. Automotive News is reporting that the sub-C-Class sedan could grow when its second generation arrives in 2018.
The current FWD platform for MB underpins the CLA, the B-Class, the GLA-Class, and the A-Class. The B-Class will arrive in North America as an EV for spring of 2014, while the production GLA crossover will arrive three to four months after that. The five-door A-Class won't be crossing The Pond. Sad faces all around.
According to AN, another model will be based on the front-drive architecture, but it won't be coming to the US market. Set to arrive next year, rumors are that it'll be a wagon version of the CLA, sort of like the ill-named five-door CLS Shooting Brake that is also a Europe-only item.
