Hello!  Happy Holidays!  We are selling a rare original 1968 Mercedes Benz W110 230 with 35,436 original miles, free of rust, and garage-kept!  It was produced in August 1967.  Since it is a US version vehicle, the model year is 1968.  Runs and drives great!   Has had the same owner for over 20 years.  The black vinyl interior is exceptional.  Driver and passenger carpeting need replacement.  Heating and air conditioning system needs to be serviced.  Wipers require minor attention.  The chrome and glass are complete and in good overall condition, considering the age of the vehicle.

This beauty has been kept clean and well-preserved and starts on a dime.  The ignition points have been replaced with an electronic ignition system.  Motor and drivetrain, suspension, and brakes are factory original equipment down to the brakepads and shoes!  Has power steering and power brakes.  Has all original markings from manufacturer on undercarriage, suspension, and rear differential.  All owner's manuals are included.

Please keep in mind that this car has not been restored.  It is in great shape for its age and belongs in any Mercedes Benz enthusiast's collection!  It was purchased as a collector's item and was barely driven (parked for many years on jack stands lifted off the ground).  It was recently started and works fine. The dash is in good condition-no cracks in the padding.  Other things have become brittle, i.e. sun visor clips.  All gauges and instruments work.  Some minor things need revision due to non-use and storage.  There are a few minor dings.  All door and window seals are original and still work.  They are brittle around the edges, which is typical of a classic.  Transmission shifts when it should--no slip-straight power.  The radio works, but was removed to replace the brittle speaker that was above it.  The radio is included; however, it is not installed.  The car is complete and would be an excellent Christmas gift for yourself or any MB enthusiast!

Located in Northern NJ.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.  Thank you.

VW joins Daimler's protest of new A/C refrigerant as EU deadline for compliance passes

Sun, 06 Jan 2013

The case of Dupont and Honeywell's refrigerant R-1234yf is doing the exact opposite of keeping things cool. The two chemical companies have spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars developing R-1234yf to replace R-134a, the new refrigerant shown to be 99.7-percent kinder to the environment than the one it is meant to succeed. Part of that development has been years of testing by governments, outside safety agencies and automakers to approve the chemical for use in cars. It passed the protocols necessary for the European Union to declare that new and significantly revised cars from 2013 onward needed to use R-1234yf, and mandated that every car as of 2017 must use it.
Enter Daimler AG. The automaker created a head-on collision test with a B-Class at their Sindelfingen test track that would lead to the pressurized refrigerant being sprayed on the engine. The result in 20 out of 20 test was that the refrigerant burst into flames as soon as it hit the hot engine, while Daimler says that R-134a does not catch fire in the same test. Another unexpected result of the R-1234yf test was the release of hydrogen flouride, a chemical far more deadly to humans than hydrogen cyanide, emitted in such amounts that it that turned the windshield white as it began to eat into the glass.
Said a Daimler engineer in a Reuters piece, "It was scarcely believable. The most complicated lab tests conducted using the most sensitive measuring instruments around found nothing and all we do is drive a car around a couple of times, open a tiny hole in the refrigerant line and the next thing you know the car is on fire." So Daimler said it wouldn't use the refrigerant, and it recalled the cars it had already shipped with R-1234yf.

Mercedes mulling Renault-based entry-level X-Class?

Sun, 17 Mar 2013

Somewhere in between the Smart brand and the all-new A-Class (pictured above), Daimler is said to be readying a smaller entry-level product for the Mercedes-Benz brand to compete with models like the Audi A1. According to AutoBild, Mercedes-Benz will get a new hatchback based on a platform from its recent partnership with Renault-Nissan, and it could be called the X-Class.
Expected to debut by 2018, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class could be offered in sedan, hatchback and crossover variants, and it would likely have a starting price below the $20,000-euro mark. Power would come from either a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter inline-four, and the car would likely be built in a low-cost nation in order to make the financials work. Wearing the Mercedes-Benz name, the X-Class would have to exhibit more distinguishable luxury and styling to set itself apart from the models that helped provide its underpinnings.

Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG spied in Sweden

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

We've spotted the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA testing a couple times in recent months in getting closer to production form and shedding camouflage, but now it looks like we're see our first look at the AMG version of this compact crossover. The low ride height might trick some into thinking that we're just seeing the already-confirmed A45 AMG out testing, but the unique beltline, rear doors and side windows confirm this is some version of the GLA-Class.
What makes us so confident that this is the AMG model? Well, for starters, this prototype has beefier brakes with cross-drilled front and rear rotors and bigger front calipers, but it also sports dual exhaust outlets poking through the rear fascia and a suspension that has been lowered considerably. Our spy shooters said that this car's exhaust note made it almost certainly an AMG model.
Just to be clear, the GLA AMG will not be powered by a 4.5-liter engine. The closely related A45 AMG will carry the "45" in its name to celebrate the first 45 years of AMG, and our sources seem to indicate the AMG version of the GLA will do the same. We're expecting this sporty crossover to produce as much as 350 horsepower from its AMG-tuned four-cylinder engine, and like the all-new E63 AMG, it could very well come standard with 4Matic all-wheel drive.
