INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE VERY WELCOME THIS 1961 CHRYSLER NEWPORT FOUR-DOOR SEDAN IS PRETTY MUCH AS FOUND AFTER A PERIOD OF MORE THAN 34 YEARS IN DEAD STORAGE IN A BUILDING WHICH HAD WOODEN FLOORS. NO ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO CRANK THE ENGINE USING THE STARTER. THE ENGINE TURNED QUITE FREELY WHEN A SOCKET AND RATCHET EXTENSION WERE ATTACHED TO THE HARMONIC BALANCER. THE THREE-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTED VIA A FLOOR-MOUNTED LEVER. THERE IS NOTHING WHICH WOULD INDICATE THAT THIS CHRYSLER WAS CONVERTED TO MANUAL TRANSMISSION FROM AUTOMATIC. IT CLEARLY WAS BUILT AS A STANDARD SHIFT UNIT WITH MINIMAL EXTRA EQUIPMENT. THERE IS NO POWER STEERING OR A/C. THE CAR DOES HAVE POWER DRUM BRAKES. WE SUSPECT THAT THIS BRAKE BOOSTER MAY HAVE BEEN ADDED AFTER DELIVERY. THE UNIBODY HULL IS SOLID. YOU WILL NOTE A SMALL AREA OF RUST-THRU AROUND THE HEADLIGHT AREA OF THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER. THE SEATS AND DOOR PANELS ARE VERY PRESENTABLE. THEY SHOULD CLEAN UP NICELY. A NEW HEADLINER WILL BE NEEDED. FRONT BUMPER REALLY SHOULD BE RECHROMED. REAR BUMPER IS GOOD. TIRES HOLD AIR OK BUT ARE VERY OLD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE PEDAL CURRENTLY SINKS TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR ROLLS AND THERE SHOULD BE NO MAJOR ISSUE LOADING THIS CAREFULLY ONTO A TRAILER OR ROLL-BACK USING THE PARKING BRAKE AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION TO CONTROL THIS MOVEMENT. I HAVE A CLEAN CURRENT MINESOTA TITLE IN MY NAME. THIS TITLE SHOWS THE ACCUMULATED MILEAGE AS "NOT REQUIRED". CURRENT ODOMETER READING IS SOMEWHERE UNDER 50,000 MILES AND IS BELIEVED TO BE ACTUAL. THE CHRYLSER MAY BE SEEN IN OAKDALE, MINNESOTA BY APPOINTMENT. THANKS FOR VIEWING THIS LISTING.

Chrysler and Google launch virtual 200 factory tour [w/video]

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

Google is no stranger to showing off some of the most interesting automotive destinations in the world, like the museums for Lamborghini and Ducati, or even a Tesla showroom. However, it's taking that technology even further with a new, in-depth look of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant where the Chrysler 200 is made. Unlike these earlier online excursions, the new Chrysler factory tour is a fully guided experience that includes several 360-degree videos explaining many parts of the production process.
"Just as we pioneered a completely new Chrysler 200, we are pioneering a new way for consumers to research a vehicle. The Factory Tour is an opportunity for us to prove to consumers that the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is not one ever built before," said Olivier Francois, Chrysler's chief marketing officer, in the company's release.
Chrysler was already pretty proud of its nearly $1 billion in recent updates to the Sterling Heights factory having released a look at the 200's assembly process earlier this year. However, the new Google tour goes far deeper by including 12 videos, and between highlighted stops, viewers can swing the camera all over to get a full view of the action. The whole thing is an intriguing way to show the way a modern car gets built.

Dodge to resurrect Scat Pack?

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Before social media ever existed, if automotive enthusiasts wanted to be noticed or recognize other fans, they joined a car club. For Dodge muscle car lovers from 1968 through 1971, that group was known as the Scat Pack. Just like the Charger, Challenger and Dart nameplates, it looks like the Scat Pack could be getting a resurrection by Chrysler.
Automotive News is reporting that Chrysler recently renewed its trademark on the Scat Pack name, and while this is in no way a guarantee that the name will return, AN talked to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge President and CEO, who stoked the fire a little more. In the article, Kuniskis said that the name is "a very important part of our history" and added that "we like the whole idea of having a Scat Pack of cars." Scat Pack models were identified by their bumblebee stripes and helmet-wearing bumblebee logo, and the idea of a modern Scat Pack doesn't seem all that outlandish in light of recent vehicles like the Charger SRT Super Bee and the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Concept.
What do you think, is this a cool idea, or is it just an unwelcome bit of nostalgia? Have you say in Comments.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
