Corsa Turbo Convertible on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:80000

Up for sale- my beautiful 66 Corvair Corsa Turbo convertible. This car is extremely rare. The 1966 Corsa Convertible Turbo is one of the most rare models of the Corvairs. In model year 1966, only 3,142 Corsa convertibles (technically Model #66-10767) were built. And only between 527 and 643 (the exact number is not known due to a fire at GM that destroyed the records) of those had the 180hp turbo engine.

If you know Corvairs, you know this is a rare and desirable model. If not, suffice it to say you don't find that sort of low production figure on any American cars.

I have owned this car since 2008. Purchased in Ft Wayne Indiana. I have put probably less that 2000 miles on it during that time. Car is in very good condition. Seats re-done with Clarks interior kit in 2008, paint re-done in 2013. Very clean and very nice, but please remember it's a 50 year old car. Paint is very good with minor blemishes here and there. Turbo currently not working (don't have a good corvair mechanic here to run it down) but car runs and drives great. All mechanicals good. New 15 inch Chevrolet rally wheels and tires. Brakes re-done in 2014. I need to sell now due to health reasons- doctors have major projects planned for me coming up up in the next couple of months. I love this car but need to sell it now.

Asking $11,500. Others of lesser quality have sold here for $15k. Yes, I have a little room to move, but if you think you'll be able to get it for 8 or 9k, you'll be disappointed, and I'd just tell you not to waste your breath or my time. I would consider interesting truck trades but prefer to sell outright. I expect you to look before buying. If you buy sight unseen, there will be a $2000 deposit that will not be refunded. As always, when buying a car, remember that money talks and BS walks! Thanks for looking!

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
