1972 Chevelle Pro Touring. This car is a true ground up restoration. Every nut and bolt was removed & replaced, every component was replaced, and attention was given to every detail. The frame was carefully prepared filling unneeded holes, smoothed, painted & clear coated. All new Hotchkis suspension components front and rear along with Wilwood Power Disc brakes on all four wheels.
The drive train includes a new monster 572ci fuel injected motor (650 hp/625 ft lb) matched to a new Keisler Tremec 5 speed transmission (rated for 650hp/650 ft lb) with low profile, internal offset shifter, rear end is 12 bolt posi with 3:73 gears. The 572 was built by a local speed shop, blue printed and breathes through a Magnaflow 3 inch stainless steel exhaust system with long mufflers and polished stainless tips exiting the custom lower rear body panel.

Dakota digital dash, Painless wiring harness, power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, new alternator, power steering pump, serpentine pulley set, hoses, fuel lines, fuel tank, fuel pump, etc. Flaming River tilt steering column with center/underside ignition placement and custom Flaming River "D" steering wheel.

All the paint and custom body work was done with the body off the chassis as the photos show, the underneath side of the car is as nice as the top side. Mirror finished Tuxedo Black and Silver paint scheme set off just right by the custom stripes. Notice, no drip rails, no side mirrors, no rear quarter panel parker lights, no emblems, just a super clean custom look.

The interior is full custom two-tone leather, including the seats, door panels and dash pad. The factory Vehicle Identification Number plate is now in the drivers side door jam due to the dash pad being wrapped in double stitched leather. Custom high end audio system with remote control hidden in the trunk area.

Coy wheels with new Falken tires. Just too much to list.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
