1975 Pontiac Trans Am on 2040-cars
Naval Air Station/ Jrb, Texas, United States
More infos regarding my car at: ioneillamkin@ukdevelopers.net .
This is 1 of 857 455 HO 4 speed Trans Ams built in ’75. Pontiac killed the 455 for the ’75 model year but after
dealers screamed for months that buyers still wanted it Pontiac decided to bring it back mid-year. It was only
available with the 4 speed trans and this is the only one I have ever seen with white interior. It still has its
orig #’s matching (with vin stamp on block born with engine) and still has its orig carb. The trans is the
correct Borg –Warner SuperT-10 aluminum case as well. The rear end is the orig 3:23 10 bolt with posi. The car
has just completed a full restoration with subframe removed and all new polyurethane suspension bushings all
around, including sway bar bushings and new ball joints. The paint is PPG DDC single stage wet sanded and buffed to
perfection and the factor honeycomb wheels really set it off. It has a new clutch and flywheel too. The entire AC
system was gone thru, all lines and compressor replaced and upgraded with the VIR eliminator kit from COLDair in
dallas. The VIR was the new for ’75 version POA valve that never worked good. The AC system is ready for
charging. The white on white with blue bird and trim is striking and unique to say the least. It also has PS, PW,
PDL, tilt and the ultra-rare rear seat console. The quality of restoration on this car speaks for itself.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
