Attention collectors!!!  If you are looking for an unrestored, mostly original, hand built Mercedes Coupe, then you owe it to yourself to come see and drive this car. This car spent its life in southern California (don't let them tell you that it doesn't matter it does).  You can eat off the under carriage! Look at pictures of service manual and notice it is stamped La Jolle California. The car was passed from father to his son and lovingly kept till his passing in 2012. I purchased this vehicle from the estate in 2013.  The market for hand built Mercedes is just starting an upward trend. Just look at the record prices on Gullwings, 300sl, 190sl, 280 convertibles, and now the coupes are taking off. The body and paint are perfect. Panels are straight, gaps are spot on with no rust anywhere. Chrome is perfect, no pitting or rust and all have a mirror like finish. Only complaint on exterior is scratch on drivers side window. Easy to replace, but up to new owner I like them as original as possible. Interior beautifully well preserved black leather. No seam spits, no tears, and minimal wear. Wood work is beautiful, tiger stripe pattern (wow they don't make them like this anymore).  Car starts right up and runs perfect. Trans shifts smoothly. A/c blows cold but could use a can of r12. (has not been turned into r134 would leave that up to new owner again I like them original).  Car comes with head rest, arm rest and power windows, which might not sound like a big deal until you drive a car without head rests, arm rests, and power windows! Again this is a car for serious collectors and I don't want to be rude but please! Please! only contact me with questions and offers if you are in the market for a car like this. 856-728-0506 0r eric.karen@verizon.net

Maybach could become Mercedes-Benz sub-brand

Wed, 22 Jun 2011

When you're arriving in a twin-turbocharged, twelve-cylinder Maybach limo, there's no reason you should ever have to be late. Except, maybe, to make a fashionable entrance. But up at the corporate level, the entire Maybach brand is being slowed down as critical decisions about its future are being undertaken.
Last week, we reported that a decision on what path Maybach would take going forward would be due at the start of next month, but the latest reports indicate that the timeframe has been extended as further options are being considered.
The previous options under consideration were twofold: either relaunch the brand with production outsourced to Aston Martin - which suddenly finds itself with excess production capacity - or shut it down completely. And those are still two very real options. Word has it that Aston has put together four concept cars for the Daimler brass to consider, all based on the next-generation S-Class platform (and thankfully not the old one).

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...

2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Mercedes-Benz upgraded its SLS flagship Coupe and Roadster for the 2013 model year, and the changes are marked with them new "GT" nomenclature. Both SLS models arrive with a retuned naturally aspired 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque (the horses are up from 563, but the torque remains the same) mated to a revised seven-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch gearbox. Rounding out the mechanical upgrades is a redeveloped AMG two-mode adaptive suspension. Physically, the revised models are differentiated by their new "GT" badging, darkened headlight/taillight buckets, red brake calipers, unique wheel colors and high gloss finish on the front grille, exterior mirrors and hood/fender fins. Inside the cabin are new red seatbelts, Alcantara upholstery and contrasting red stitching.
As it is nearly impossible to experience the aluminum gullwing beast on public roads, Mercedes invited out to Southern California's Willow Springs to wring out the 2013 SLS GT Coupe on a racing circuit.
