This car Runs but does not Drive.  It is in what they call limp mode.  I am going to do my best at  giving a little history on the vehicle. My husband bought this car for me a little over a year ago. The car ran and drove beautifully.  Everything worked properly with no issues.   In July of 2013 the car was in my place of business parking lot parked when someone backed into the drivers side front door. Fortunately the young lady  whose son backed into the car brought it to my attention and shared her insurance information to have the car repaired. She was insured with Geico insurance and I selected a Geico partnered collision center to have the car repaired.  My husband personally took the vehicle to the collision center to be repaired. It took roughly one week before we were contacted that the vehicle was ready to be picked up.  My husband went to pick the car. Upon leaving the facility the car would not change out of 1st gear. It would only drive about 30 miles per hour.  My husband turned the vehicle around and took it back to the collision facility. He discussed the matter with the Geico and they informed us that they would look into the matter. Geico also informed us that upon diagnostic of the vehicle, if the problem was not related to the accident they would not cover it. We were not happy about this. My husband drove the vehicle up to the facility and expected to be able to leave the collision center driving the car.  Geico offered to have the car taken to a facility and diagnosed. We had the vehicle checked out and it was discovered that water had messed up the computers on the car.  The water had gotten to the computers because the when the windshield was removed a piece that was there to deflect the water was not properly replaced. Because it was not replaced properly water filled up in the area were the computers to the car was located. This malfunctioned the car and caused it to go into limp mode. We had for a few months been back and forth with Geico but they would not repair the car. It was terribly disappointing because for the whole time of going back and forth with them they paid over $2700 for our rental car. The Car could have been repaired for under $1500. We finally were tired of going back and forth with Geico and gave in.  My husband decided to just sell the car. Even though he felt like Geico should have covered repairing the vehicle because of neglect, he do not like the idea that water on the computer caused a vehicle to stop being able to be driven. I have included in this listing pictures of the car, Geico repair information, Geico Warranty, Car rental payment by Geico and diagnostic information from Repair Shop.  This will be included with the sell of the car and can be used to reference what the car needs. I hope I am clear in this information but if there are any questions please feel free to contact me.

Description

The Vehicle is Black with Gray leather interior.  The Exterior is in good condition with a few scratches, blemishes, dings and over spray from the collision center. I did complain to Geico about this and they told me to bring it back after I had it repaired, it was under  warranty with them. I just dropped the idea all together thinking they would do something purposely to mess the vehicle up again. I have included in the pictures close ups of cosmetic issues around the vehicle. The Interior is Gray leather. All the interior but the drivers seat is in good condition. The front seat was like this when my husband purchased it. The car is equipped with keyless entry, Navigation system ( needs Cd that is recorded with regions in US to work properly), Hidden Cassette Player, Cd Changer, Premium sound system, Power windows all working properly, power sunroof which is working properly, Telescopic wheel, Michelin tires all in good condition, Power door locks, power seats, Power brakes, Message center, dual climate control, knock down rear head rest, Rear defrogger, Intermittent wipers, console storage, wood grain, Alloy Wheels,  and black out tail lights. Hope I named everything but if any questions please feel free to contact me. I have included quite a few pictures to give you a good idea of the cosmetics of the car. Remember, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

I don't mind keeping the car until arrangements can be made to pick it up or have it transported.  However, Time is of the essence and I will not be responsible if left beyond an unreasonably period of time I think 2 weeks if within reason if you need more time, please contact me and we will work it out.

Watch Schumacher's hot lap of N"urburgring in Mercedes F1 car

Fri, 31 May 2013

In advance of the Nürburgring 24-hour race last weekend, Mercedes-Benz put on a demonstration that had Michael Schumacher playing catch-up in a Formula One car against four examples of AMG metal. There were four cars sent off in staggered starts before Schumacher: an A45 AMG, E63 AMG 4Matic, SLS AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG GT3 car. "Mr. Formula One," as the German television commentators call him, left three minutes after the SLS AMG GT3.
There are two videos of Schumacher's lap, the first is on-board footage - and even though there were several GoPros on the car the POV never cuts away from the front wing. You can hear the throttle and tell he's not pushing it, you can also tell how bumpy the track is. The second video is footage from the German Sport1 channel - with commentary in German - that shows all the cars taking off and takes the aerial view of proceedings. He looks to be going a lot faster in that one. You can compare and contrast yourself with the videos below.
Oh, and it's worth noting that, even with the likely restricted car, and the made-for-TV environment, Schumi turned in a quick lap. The nose camera shows the F1 car start to slow down on the back straight, near the start/finish line, right around the modern-length track record time of six minutes and eleven seconds.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Zetsche's CEO tenure extended through 2016 at Daimler

Sun, 24 Feb 2013

There appear to be two takes on Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche having his contract extended for three more years, to 2016. A report in The Detroit News quotes the chairman of Daimler's supervisory board, Manfred Bischoff, talking up the stability at the top, "With today's extensions of the contracts of Dieter Zetsche and Thomas Weber, we are maintaining the important continuity at the top executive level." Bischoff also stated that that Zetsche has a plan to "further enhance Daimler's overall performance."
Over at Reuters, though, the three-year extension was seen as a lack of complete confidence in Zetsche's plans, since his contract was supposedly meant to be extended by five years. A spokesman said the board decided to extend executive contracts by only three years if the person was 60 or would turn 60 during the contract, but that was news to observers. Zetsche wants to make Mercedes-Benz the top selling luxury manufacturer globally by 2020, but has fallen to third place behind Audi and BMW. It hasn't held the top spot 2005, and investors judged it valued at half that of BMW at the end of 2012 once Daimler's truck business was subtracted.
Analysts cites the fact that Daimler stock hasn't bested its rivals but twice in twelve years, and that the company revised its profit target downward last year by nearly one billion euros, warning of stagnant earnings this year and will miss its original margin target for 2013.
