2001 Mercedes Clk 320 Convertible No Reserve!!! on 2040-cars

I hate to be like this but I've had a rash of recent bidders who win an auction, then disappear with no intentions of ever purchasing.  So please, only bid if you don't have the money or the integrity to follow through with the purchase.  Auctions are expensive and time consuming and with me moving in a month, I simply don't have time to play games.

2001 Mercedes CLK 320 convertible.  Car has a few flaws and defects, a little rust but runs amazingly well and is being sold with NO RESERVE.  Runs and drives great.  There are a few lights on for BAS and ABS but there are no codes stored.  My research showed that it's a $28 switch that takes 10 minutes to change.  I just don't have time to do it right now as I'm moving in 4 weeks.  Once the switch is replaced, the lights will go out and the cruise control will work again.  A/C works great, tires are in good condition and car has been EXTREMELY well maintained by previous Mercedes mechanic and by me for the last year and a half.  Gas mileage is AWESOME!  It's not uncommon to get 32-33mpg on the highway.

The car is fully loaded with almost every option known to man including power convertible top, awesome aftermarket stereo with GPS/Bluetooth/DVD player, etc.  Car has really nice aftermarket custom wheels and Michelin tires.  Driver's door handle is broken and there's a little wear on seats, door panels and there are a few rust areas on the body.  The previous owner was the owner of a Mercedes repair shop and maintained it extremely well.  A ton of extra parts are included such as shocks, filters, tail light lense and much more.

I bought this car for my daughter in college.  This year, a ton of snow fell and we realized it's not a great car if you need something to drive in the winter.  It runs extremely well, just made a 500 mile trip and my wife has driven it all week.

New details emerge on forthcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC

Sat, 02 Feb 2013

Last we heard, the Mercedes-Benz SLC had been put on indefinite hold, but now Car Magazine is reporting that the Porsche 911-fighting "Baby SLS" coupe could be on sale by 2015. Riding on a modified SLS AMG chassis, the smaller and lighter SLC could be priced in the sub-$100,000 price bracket.
We'd already heard that the new car would feature conventional doors (instead of SLS-like gullwing doors), but this report focuses on some of the possible powertrains Mercedes-Benz is likely to use. At launch, the SLC could offer a pair of V8-powered models - a 485-horsepower SLC and a 585-hp SLC S - both being powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. About a year after launch, a new V6 model could emerge giving the SLC an estimated 333 horsepower and its lowest price point.
It also sounds like the car's name hasn't been completely finalized as some people within Mercedes are favoring a return of the SLR name.

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.

Firing of M-B boss upheld

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Ernst Lieb, the disgraced former CEO of American operations for Mercedes-Benz, will not be getting any more money from the Silver Arrow'd teat. His wrongful dismissal suit against MB's parent company, Daimler, was tossed out of a German appeals panel. This, followed the initial rejection by a lower court last year.
According to court documents acquired by Automotive News, Lieb was found to have "accepted payments of substantial value to which he - as he was aware - had no claim."
Lieb took over American operations from former CEO Paul Halata in September of 2006. Reports surfaced in October of 2011 that Lieb was dismissed from his posting at MB, with a variety of rumors swirling. Eventually, news broke that financial wrong doing was responsible for the German's firing.
