1999 Mercedes-benz Clk430 Base Coupe 2-door 4.3l on 2040-cars
Inglewood, California, United States
I purchased the car two years ago. I've used it as a weekend car and put only 6,000 miles in the two years I've owned it. The title and CarFax is clean and the car has not been in any accidents. There aren't any leaks and there there is no rust anywhere on the body or frame. No mechanical issues. The reason I am selling it is that I purchased a larger economy vehicle. The V8 engine on the CLK430 is really powerful. It's a super fun ride and the acceleration is amazing. The body of the CLK430 still looks really modern. Most people are surprised to hear it's from 1999. Inside it's really clean. It has been well maintained, garaged during the time I've owned it. The leather is in excellent condition, no rips or tears. A piece of the speaker cover on the passenger door is chipped off. There is road rash on the front bumper but it's only noticeable from up close. Very light scratches in a few places (they don't show up in pictures even). Trunk is manually operated; it can only be opened with the key. There is only one key. There are no other defects. Recent service history: Replaced valve cover gaskets. Oil and filter changed 2,000 miles ago. Front tires replaced within the last year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. |

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...
Fri, 15 Mar 2013If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.
Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome
Tue, 24 Sep 2013This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.
