1983 Mercedes 300 Turbo Diesel W123 Parts Car on 2040-cars
Everson, Washington, United States
Was used as a parts car. Is missing many components that enable drivability such as doors. However a lot of the car remains intact, such as the tan leather interior, and engine components. This car is NOT COMPLETE. Missing parts to my knowledge are: Drivers seat, all 4 doors, grill, misc interior pieces, and other odd and ends. The engine will run, but failed a compression test and has a slight rod or crankshaft knock. There are 300,000 miles and supposedly a rebuilt automatic transmission. I drove it home the day I bought it and parked it. Don't expect a running car, but could possibly start with only a battery. Clean engine bay with a rebuilt injection pump, new radiator, and water pump. This car is in Bellingham, WA and will require to be picked up. I can answer your Questions. Title in hand. WA state. 360-441-3640 texting will get you current pictures. Or call to chat. CAR IS SOLD AS IS.
AGAIN I do specify, this is a parts car and is missing parts. DO NOT expect perfect. Bring a truck and trailer. PICTURES ARE NOT RECENT. TEXT OR EMAIL FOR CURRENT PICTURES. SOLD AS IS. SOLD AS IS. |

Mercedes-Benz introduces new heavy security M-Class Guard model
Tue, 19 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new addition to the company's line of personal security vehicles. The M-Class Guard features bullet-proof side windows made with special laminated glazing and a polycarbonate inner layer to protect occupants from shards of glass. Mercedes says the M-Class Guard meets protection level VR4 according to the Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 standards, based on testing from the independent Ulm-based Ballistics Bureau, which means it can withstand .357 Magnum and .44 fire from multiple angles. It can also stand up to the DM51 hand grenade when equipped with optional floor armoring. Why skimp?
Buyers looking for protection from the world's literal slings and arrows can opt for the ML350 BlueTEC with its 258 horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. With 457 pound-feet of torque, the oil-burner should have no trouble hustling the privileged class about. Of course, the ML500 offers a bit more punch courtesy of a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Prices start at 105,050 euros for the diesel and 118,650 euros for the V8. You can check out the full press release below for more information.
VW joins Daimler's protest of new A/C refrigerant as EU deadline for compliance passes
Sun, 06 Jan 2013The case of Dupont and Honeywell's refrigerant R-1234yf is doing the exact opposite of keeping things cool. The two chemical companies have spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars developing R-1234yf to replace R-134a, the new refrigerant shown to be 99.7-percent kinder to the environment than the one it is meant to succeed. Part of that development has been years of testing by governments, outside safety agencies and automakers to approve the chemical for use in cars. It passed the protocols necessary for the European Union to declare that new and significantly revised cars from 2013 onward needed to use R-1234yf, and mandated that every car as of 2017 must use it.
Enter Daimler AG. The automaker created a head-on collision test with a B-Class at their Sindelfingen test track that would lead to the pressurized refrigerant being sprayed on the engine. The result in 20 out of 20 test was that the refrigerant burst into flames as soon as it hit the hot engine, while Daimler says that R-134a does not catch fire in the same test. Another unexpected result of the R-1234yf test was the release of hydrogen flouride, a chemical far more deadly to humans than hydrogen cyanide, emitted in such amounts that it that turned the windshield white as it began to eat into the glass.
Said a Daimler engineer in a Reuters piece, "It was scarcely believable. The most complicated lab tests conducted using the most sensitive measuring instruments around found nothing and all we do is drive a car around a couple of times, open a tiny hole in the refrigerant line and the next thing you know the car is on fire." So Daimler said it wouldn't use the refrigerant, and it recalled the cars it had already shipped with R-1234yf.
