This auction is for a beautiful second owner low mileage 1969 Mercedes Benz 280SE/8, Chassis 108.019 built in Stuttgart Germany.  This vehicle was acquired in an estate sale.  This well kept vehicle was originally purchased new at Rallye Motors in Glen Cove, Ny.  The original bill of sales, provided with the vehicle, lists the following:

  1. Automatic Transmission
  2. Power Steering
  3. Filler Cushions and Arm Rests
  4. Ivory Steering Wheel
  5. Belly Pan Under Motor
  6. Extra Right Side Mirror
  7. Becker Europa Radio
  8. Black Tires
  9. Black Leather Upholster
This is a beautiful White Gray colored car.  The car has been painted once and the original touch up paint is still with the vehicle. The Chrome is shiny and shows little pitting.  The interior shows minimal wear.  The vehicle only had 57,000 miles on it when it was purchased from the original owners estate.  The vehicle has always been garaged and nicely maintained.  There is an electric antenna which works well.  All the power windows work as does the radio.  There is scratch on the lower part of the passenger front door and a dent on the passenger front bumper.  Both are minor in nature and easily repaired.  The heater control knob handle is cracked.  These are available.  This car needs only a good detailing before being presented at a auto show.  There is a slight haze on some of the seats and other soft interior parts that wipe right off with a leather conditioner.  The underside is good and shows no signs of rust.

Please message and call me at 215-896-8104 if you have any questions.

I recommend an in person inspection to fully inspect the car as it is being sold in as is condition.

Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior caught in spy shots

Tue, 29 Jan 2013

With the redesigned 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class getting closer to production, the camera-wielding crew over at Autospies somehow managed to get inside of the car to snap some detailed spy shots. As the prototypes continue to shed camouflage, it would appear that Mercedes-Benz is getting closer to unveiling the car, and with the Geneva and New York auto shows coming up, it could be sooner rather than later.
From what we can see of this car's interior, the overall look of the S-Class' cabin isn't a ground-breaking departure from the current car, but it has been completely redesigned with more advanced technology. The styling is now even more upscale with larger swaths of wood, more shapely door panels (without the built-in armrest cubbies) and the concept-like two-spoke steering wheel. The highlight of this car though is probably the two massive digital screens with one being used for driver information and the other used for navigation, audio and infotainment systems. One other detail we noticed about this car is that it was equipped with the new 360-degree camera that debuted on the new GL-Class and will also be used on the 2014 E-Class. We also know that the next-gen S-Class will be getting the new cloud-based MBrace2 infotainment system.
As for the exterior design, it looks like the next S-Class will carry a similar profile as the current car, but we can see through the camouflage that the new styling will fit in better with current Mercedes-Benz products. Up front, the grille is much larger is flanked by aggressive LED-trimmed headlights, while the rear view of the car shows us the LED brake light now at the top of the rear window, a more pointed trunk opening and a more squared-off rear fascia with exhaust outlets pushed to the corners.
