I SPENT OVER 5,000.00 JUST ON A PROFFESSIONAL TO DO ALL THE BODY WORK AND PAINT IT FOR ME.
I HAVE HAD THE BUMPERS SENT OUT OF STATE AND STRAIGHTENED AND COMPLETELY RECHROMED , COSTING ME $1400.00 .
THEN THE CRACKED BLUE LEATHER WORN SEATS , COMPLETELY REDONE IN A $80.00 A SQ. YARD GRAY/CHARCOAL CADILLAC CLOTH FROM DETROIT.....COST ME OVER $2200.00 , FOR THAT !
.THE ENGINE WAS THE FIRST THING DONE ALONG WITH THE TRANSMITION....THEY WERE COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED AND HOT TANK CHEMICAL CLEANED , THEN GLASS BEADED AND PAINTED. THE MOTOR LOOKS LIKE A BRAND NEW ONE....WHICH IT VIRTUALLY IS....I HAVE ABOUT 50 MILES ON THE CAR , AND ABOUT 150+ HOURS OF RUNNING TIME ON IT......MAINLY IN BREAKIN THE MOTOR BACK IN,(AT AN IDLE). THAT COST YEARS BACK , ALMOST $6,000.00 .
I HAVE MOST OF THE RECEIPTS STILL FROM OVER THE YEARS ON REDOING THIS GEM.....
MY COSTS ARE WELL OVER $15,000.00 ON THIS PROJECT....BUT HAVE NO MONEY TO FINISH IT.
THAT IS WHY I AM BRINGIN IT TO EBAY FOR AN AUCTION !!!!
THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN ONE OF MY BARNS FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS , BEING STARTED PERIODICALLY TO KEEP IT BLOOD FLOWING , I HAD IT OUT FOR THESE GREAT PIX IN 2010 , TAKE A LOOK AS THIS IS STILL HOW IT LOOKS TODAY.!
THERE ARE 3 AREAS OF THE BODY THAT HAVE BEEN INJURED SINCE ITS REPAINTING 14 YEARS AGO......THEY ARE; 1-THE TOP OF THE CAR ON THE ENGINE COMPARTMENTS PASSANGER SIDE , SOMETHING FELL FROM OVER  HEAD AND SCRATCHED THE TOP AREA BY WHERE THE POWER ANTENNA COMES UP !

THE TIRES ARE NEW , AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN OUT ON THE ROAD......THE RIMS HAVE SOME PITTING IN THEM , MAINLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FROM ONE OF MY DOGS LIFTING HIS LEG OCCASIONALLY , LOL , BUT STILL VERY USABLE AS U CAN SEE IN THE PIX.  THE INTERIOR IS MAINLY DONE BUT IT DOES NEED A NEW HEADLINER , OLD ONE IS RIPPED OUT THE FRONT SEAT IS JUST SITTING IN PLACE , NEEDS MOTOR ON SEAT MOVEMENT CHECKED OUT.....STEREO HOOKED-UP , JUST SMALL STUFF LIKE THAT..
THE REAR DOORS HAVE PROFESSINALLY INSTALLED MAX TINT BY LAW ALLOWED , AND THE SAME ON THE REAR BACK GLASS , ONLY I HAD IT DOUBLE MAX TINTED.....YOU CANT SEE IN FROM THE OUTSIDE.....VERY PRIVATE ! I HAVE THE HOOD FOR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND IT IS OK AND FULLY PAINTED BLACK...NOT PICTURED THOUGH , AND IT TILTS FORWARD FROM THE FRONT WINDSHIELD.
ALSO.....THE CAR HAS BEEN SANDBLASTED BEFORE PAINT...THE WHOLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT , ALL THE DOOR JAMS , AND THE TRUNK WAS BLASTED BEFORE RESTORE TOOK PLACE.....THERE IS A LOT OF CHROME TRIM LEFT TO PUT ON THE CAR.....WILL LOOK MUCH BETTER WHEN ALL OF IT IS ON......IF SOME DOES THIS THEMSELVES...ITS MAINLY LABOR HOURS TO CAREFULLY REASSEMBLE THIS GEM , BUT IF HAD TO PAY , I WOULD ESTIMATE ABOUT 5K TO FINISH THIS OUT TO A BEAUTIFUL CRUSIER !

Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too

Thu, 22 Nov 2012

The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.

Ex-GM VP LaNeve takes over Lincoln ad agency

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Those of you that caught yesterday's op-ed about Lincoln will have heard already, but Mark LaNeve has taken the helm at Team Detroit. Once the North American vice president of sales, service and marketing for General Motors, LaNeve will now head up the agency that handles all of Ford advertising. LaNeve will also run the account for Lincoln. While at GM from 2001 to 2009, the exec oversaw ad campaigns like Cadillac's Breakthrough and sales initiatives like "Employee Pricing for Everyone."
He left in 2009 to join Allstate as chief marketing officer, oversaw the creation of the Mayhem ad spots and was moved into the role of VP of agency operations overseeing Allstate's 10,000 agents. He resigned from the insurer in February 2012 for personal reasons and joined Team Detroit in August 2012 as chief operating officer, in charge of satellite offices in New York and internationally. He replaces ex-CEO Cameron McNaughton, and will continue to hold the title of COO.
Lincoln is trying to get its 2013 back to rights after putting big dollar commercials for the 2013 MKZ on television then having production glitches preventing cars from getting to dealerships. With rumors of a relaunch in the works, it's no surprise LaNeve has been given the reins - and from here it looks like the brand is desperate for the kind of magic he's proved he can marshal. Perhaps he can start by calling a mulligan on the renaming exercise that gave us the hoary "Lincoln Motor Company" and go back to oh, say, "Lincoln." Then he can ask the product folks to get to work on the MKC concept...

Lincoln MKC prototype caught partially covered, reveals some changes

Tue, 14 May 2013

When Lincoln pulled the wraps off the MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, we said that the very attractive concept was going to closely mirror the production vehicle. With few exceptions, a clad prototype recently caught running on public roads seems to substantiate our statement.
From what the pictures reveal, the disguised Lincoln MKC production mule and show concept seem to share the same waistline with identical sculpting over the wheels. The midsection of the two also appear to match with the same flare and styling. The lower rockers have been cleaned up a bit, mainly to be more practical in the real world (the deep chisels on the show car would have collected mud and snow).
Taking a look at the exposed front bumper, we see a very similar lower fascia complete wtih the metal skid plate on the chin. The window profile also seems to match the concept, though we're still unclear exactly how that C- and D-pillar section is going to look. Of course, and it always seems to be the case when concepts evolve into production vehicles, the MKC gains four normal door handles, standard-sized mirrors and a slightly smaller wheel/tire package. We expect the production version of the Lincoln MKC to debut later this year.
