1957 Ford Thunderbird (survivor Barn Find) on 2040-cars
San Marcos, Texas, United States
I recently purchased an estate along with all contents, this 1957 Ford Thunderbird was part of the purchase. I am not an expert in this field, but I believe this would be a nice starting point for a restoration. I cleaned out the garage and washed the dirt off the car and included new photos for your review. I'll remove from Ebay should a sale occur prior to the end of this auction. Disclaimer: Since I am not an expert in this field, this car is being sold "as is-where is" without any warranty or guarantee. I have been asked lot's of questions on mileage and understand I am selling what I see, as I have no way to confirm accuracy. I feel we can all assume it has more than 5214. Additionally, this car is not w/o some rust, though the body shots I have posted are a accurate representation. Gages below dash are not original. The interior leather looks good, but dirty, carpet should be replaced. I am told by former owner, car came out of California in around 1990 and was driven from there to Texas and was parked in the garage ever since, some documents included for your review. When I lift back seat I can see trunk, looks fine. Rear wheel metal covers, AC are included, and keys included, see photos. Garage has now been cleared, buyer to arrange transport and I'll do my best to assist with removal from garage, airing up tires and such. Features: It's all there, not missing pieces and parts. History: Last drove in early 1990's, been under cover in garage since. Shipping: Buyer to arrange. Payment: Cash Title: Clear and in my name. |

Rolling footage of the 2015 Ford Mustang hits YouTube [w/video]
Thu, 26 Dec 2013Just in time for the holidays: Ford took the 2015 Mustang to Route 66 to cook up rolling footage, and we've been given some of the leftovers ahead of the meal. There are no burnouts, no donuts, no revving, and thankfully, no music. It's just two minutes and 26 seconds of the new pony car running free in the desert.
So in case you needed more visualizing help, the video below will help you start imagining how you'll look in your 2014 Christmas present to yourself...
Ward's Automotive Ten Best Engines of 2014 dominated by diesels, turbos
Thu, 12 Dec 2013With the Car and Driver Ten Best decided, the North American Car and Truck of the Year finalists announced and Cadillac, Ram and Subaru chalking up wins with Motor Trend, it's fair to say that the automotive awards season is in full swing. The next set of trophies to be handed out will be from Ward's Automotive, which has announced the winners of its 2014 10 Best Engines.
The latest contest was marked by the widespread emergence of diesel power and the continued success of turbocharged engines. There was even an electric motor on this year's list. In fact, only three of the ten winners were naturally aspirated and only two winners returned from last year.
"We weren't looking to throw the bums out, as they might say about an election. We were just really impressed with the flood of new powertrains," said Ward's Automotive Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter. Those new powertrains include the 83-kilowatt electric motor from the Fiat 500e, the 1.0-liter, EcoBoost three-cylinder from the Ford Fiesta and the 2.0-liter turbodiesel from the Chevrolet Cruze.
2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid
Thu, 02 May 2013No Prius Killer
As much as we enthusiasts like to rail on the lowly Toyota Prius as the harbinger of death for all we hold dear, there's no denying the machine's absolute and interminable grip on the hybrid hatchback market in the United States. Toyota has so thoroughly sunk its teeth into the segment that you can clearly hear the automaker's incisors clacking against one another with the conclusion of each financial quarter. And there's little wonder why. Buyers can plop down less than $25,000 and have a runabout that can return up to an estimated 51 miles per gallon in the city, leaving every other entry on the market with precious little gristle to gnaw on.
Enter the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. With its claimed 47 mpg combined, the funky little hatch from Europe already falls behind the 48 mpg city offered by the Prius, but that marginal sacrifice in fuel economy could be a small price to pay for buyers who want a credible alternative to the stalwart Toyota. Unfortunately, like the Fusion Hybrid, the C-Max Hybrid had trouble even approaching its Environmental Protection Agency estimates during our time with the car.
