For sale is my drop dead gorgeous, beautiful 61 thunderbird convertible. If this car isn't the nicest 61 around I'd be very surprised. Super rare nautilus gray with red interior, and gorgeous. If u don't like attention, oohs and ahhs, this isn't the car for u. Rebuilt 390, runs fantastic, no issues. Just spent 1 k changing every gasket possible. All gauges work, ac works and is ice cold. Top mechanism performs flawlessly. Slaves, cylinders etc all rebuilt. Paint is flawless. Absolutely gorgeous metallic gray. Interior the same. No rips, tears in seats,or dash. Took an am-fm from a 63 and installed it in this car. Works perfectly. Original am radio is included although it needs to be repaired. This car has won more awards than I can describe....best paint, best of show, best ford, etc..... She took second in the VTCI intl convention in 2010. Tires new, alternator installed for better charging, have the original generator if desired. Engine bay spotless. She spent the first 46 yrs of life in Texas until the owner got sick at which time it came to illinois in 2006. I have receipts for all work done dating back to the 90's. There's not much more I can describe about this car. It is not your ordinary bird, it is truly spectacular. It has been lovingly cared for and driven mostly to shows. In August 2013, she was included in the Geneva IL concours d'elegance, quite an honor. It kills me to let her go but I'm thinning out the herd these days. Just sold my jaguar yesterday. I would like it to go to an appreciative home. The car is so gorgeous that JIm Powers, who Was on the design team on the car, wanted to buy it and put it in his collection. VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

The latest Fiesta ST has just hit the roads on both sides of the pond and has been enthusiastically received thanks to its combination of a peppy, turbocharged engine and hatchback utility.
However, Europe is getting a bumper crop of hot hatches at the moment, including the forthcoming, third-generation Mini Cooper S. Should Ford have waited to launch the ST until it knew how the competition performed? Sun, 20 Jan 2013Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
