Up for your consideration is a really nice solid garage kept 1970 F100 ranger xlt short bed pickup. This truck was recently purchased from the previous owner who had owned the truck since the mid 90's.The truck is said to have 124,xxx miles. He drove the truck for many years as an original type vehicle. Then a few years back he decided to turn it into what it is now!! Currently sporting under the hood is a true bored .30 over 390 with a built c6 transmission. Previous owner sank more than 5,500 in the engine and transmission alone and only has about 6,000 miles on the new build. Here is a short list of whats been done under the hood. Has a 30 over FE 390, built C-6 automatic w/shift kit. Only parts reused were block, crank and connecting rods. Rebuilt D-2 heads. All parts were cleaned, Machined and checked by machine shop. Purchased new for motor was edelbrock carb, edelbrock intake, RV Cam/Lifter set Idle-5500, timing set, edelbrock water pump.Complete electronic ignition system from mallory unilite distributor and coil. Crane Custom 3/8 adjustable push rods with extra rods. Crane aluminum roller rocker set. High pressure oil pump, forged pistons, hooker headers, 3" Stainless exhaust, Flow masters turned down at back axle. Ford racing valve covers and air cleaners. Have receipts of all parts and machine work. The engine and transmission run out perfectly. Sounds awesome, and of course pretty quick!! Has late model disc brake conversion with brand new master cylinder/booster and front pads. Newer battery, Power steering , Power brakes, late model ford wheels etc.. The body of the truck is in really good shape. There is only one very small rust hole on the exterior of the body located on the lower drivers door section. The rest of the body is really nice with just small amounts of surface rust (nothing major). Perfect rust free floor pans, cab mounts, frame etc... The inside of the bed is really nice with a straight bed floor and nice wheel tubs. There are a couple small pin holes in the bed floor closest to cab , probably not even noticeable in the picture. The interior is also in really good condition with a brand new year specific Ranger xlt bench seat. Nice carpet and dash assembly. If you desire some tunes your going to need to purchase a radio. The original radio bezel is still in the dash. All the gauges, headlights, brake lights, flashers, cargo light, wipers, interior light, etc.. work perfectly as they should. All the glass is in good original condition. Also the lucky winner will be landing a factory installed under dash ac kit. Comes with the ac controls and a few under hood lines to attach to the compressor. This is a direct bolt on factory installed ac kit for this truck. This truck is an awesome fun to drive daily driver only needing minor cosmetics if you wish to bring it to the next level. Draws a lot of attention everywhere you go and mechanically its rite !
This is an amazing find for one of these trucks in this condition. Take a look at the pictures below and bid away because you will not find a better deal on a truck like this at the price it we be sold for. Good luck and don't miss out!! I may have this truck for sale locally as well. If sold before auction ends I have the rite to end the auction early. When the reserve is met, it will be sold here only! Please only bid if you plan to pay and always ask questions before bidding. Deposit of 500.00 is due after auction ends unless prior arrangements have been made. Truck will be sold as is condition and will be sold with a Georgia bill of sale. Georgia is a non title state for classics of this age. If you need a title for your state you should be able to obtain one with the proper paperwork. On Jul-20-14 at 11:39:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Truck will also come with a detailed Georgia T-22 form filled out toaday(July 20 2014) by a local officer that states that it is free, clear and not stolen. Galpin-Fisker Rocket shows up topless in Monterey
Sun, Aug 16 2015The Rocket Coupe, introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, was a collaboration in reimagination carried out by designer Henrik Fisker and Galpin Auto Sports on a Ford Mustang. The next version of that concept has come to Pebble Beach in the metallic red form of the Rocket Speedster Concept you see here. In this guise the Mustang convertible gets a speedster tonneau cover that runs all the way to the front seat headrests, covering the back seats. As with the rest of the bodywork the cover is fashioned in carbon fiber, portions of it visible in places like the stripes running along the hood from the hexagonal grill to the tonneau, and the exposed carbon fiber air ducts that are mesh-filled to improve airflow through the cabin. And yes, it still has that nose. Underhood is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 725 horsepower, all that cavalry brought to a stop by 15-inch Brembo Gran Turismo brakes up front tucked behind 21-inch custom wheels. Although it is labeled a concept, it too will go into limited production like its hardtop forebear. The press release below has the info, the gallery above has the goods. (August 15, 2015) – Galpin Auto Sports and Henrik Fisker unveiled the latest iteration of the "Ultimate American Muscle Car" today at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance; the 2015 Rocket Speedster Concept. Following a short drive onto the legendary Pebble Beach Concept Lawn, Henrik Fisker and Galpin Motors President, Beau Boeckmann introduced the convertible carbon fiber-bodied super-Mustang, intended for low-volume production. The car was featured as one of only a few special designer cars in front the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Featuring a fully integrated carbon fiber speedster cover that transforms the four-seat convertible into a two-seat speedster, this new edition Rocket maintains exceptional visual drama and performance with the top up or down. As with the Rocket Coupe, the Concept carries a carbon fiber hood feeding air into the supercharged 725-hp V8 engine through two sculpted air intakes, aiding the grill and front splitter in maintaining optimal cooling and aerodynamics. Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment
Fri, Jun 17 2016Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.
Junkyard Gem: 1971 Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan
Sat, Sep 10 2022When Ford introduced the original Maverick for the 1970 model year, Dearborn tradition required that a Mercury-badged version be created. That car ended up being the Comet, built from the 1971 through 1977 model years. Here's one of those first-year Comets in rough but recognizable condition, found in a Denver self-service yard not long ago. The Comet name had spent the 1960s affixed to the flanks of Mercurized Ford Falcons (1960-1965) and Fairlanes (1966-1969). Since the Maverick was the successor of the Falcon — sales of which went into an irrecoverable downward spiral once its sportier Mustang first cousin hit the streets — it made sense to move the Comet name over to the Mercury version. Nearly every American Mercury model ever sold was a U.S.-market Ford model with a different name and some gingerbread slapped on. Notable exceptions to this tradition include the 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar (mechanically based on the Contour but with a unique body) and the 1991-1994 Mercury Capri (an Australian-built mashup of Mazda components borrowed from the Ford Laser). The Comet was by far the cheapest Mercury model available in 1971, though it was considered more prestigious than its Maverick counterpart. The price tag on the '71 Comet two-door sedan started at $2,217 (about $16,505 in 2022 dollars), while the '71 Maverick two-door sedan cost $2,175 ($16,193 today). Meanwhile, AMC would sell you a new Hornet two-door sedan for one dollar less than a Maverick, Chevrolet had the Nova coupe for a dollar more than the Maverick, and Plymouth offered the Valiant Duster for $2,313 ($17,220 now). Toyota had a Maverick competitor as well that year, with the Corona at $2,150 for the sedan and $2,310 for the coupe. Having driven every one of the aforementioned models, I'd take the Duster if I went back in time and had to choose one (as a 1969 Corona owner, I'm not a fan of the 1971 facelift, though the Corona's build quality beats the Duster's). The build sticker on this car tells us that it was built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (where Transits and F-150s are made today) and sold through the Los Angeles district sales office (there was a DSO in Denver, so it's a near-certainty that this car didn't start out in Colorado). The paint started out as Bright Blue Metallic (it's neither bright nor metallic 51 years down the road) and the interior was done up in Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl.
