I am the second owner of this black 6.0L V8 all-wheel-drive 2003 Chevrolet Silverado SS. I have owned the vehicle since March, 2012 and maintain the vehicle regularly. I use conventional oil and change every 3,500 miles. It has 119,000 miles and has a 100% stock engine. It has a set of Goodyear Eagle GT tires that were installed in May 2012. All repairs and maintenance have been professionally done at the Supreme Chevrolet dealership in Gonzales, Louisiana. I have documentation and receipts for all maintenance done on the vehicle. The exterior is in excellent condition. The paint is stock from the factory. There are some areas on the roof where the paint is fading. There is also an aree on the hood, closest to the windshield where a small section of paint is fading. The truck bed has a spray in bed liner that was professionally done before I owned the truck. The interior of the truck is where this vehicle really shines. Pristine dash, carpet, console, and doors. The seats are leather, powered, and heated. The seats have powered adjustable lumbar support and several different seat angles. There are two small nickle sized tears in the driver side seat; but all other seats are in perfect condition. Air conditioner and heater work great and climate control can be adjusted for passenger and driver separately. There is also A/C and heat for the back seats. The stereo is the best part about the truck. The stereo head unit is a sony double-din 6 inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, USB, AUX, DVD, and CD, AM/FM capabilities. There is a microphone built into the truck for hands free phone calls. The Bluetooth capabilities allow you to stream music wirelessly from your smartphone iphone, ipad, ipod, etc. The steering wheel has stereo controls. The speakers in the truck are all Alpine. Two Alpine 6" type R component speakers with tweeters in the front doors. Two Alpine type S 4"x 6" speakers in the rear doors. All of the speakers are powered by a Rockford Fosgate 400 watt 4 channel amp mounted behind the rear seats. Under the rear seats there are two Alpine 10" type R subwoofers mounted in a custom built powder coated FOX box, ported enclosure. The Alpine subwoofers are powered by a 1,000 watt Hifonics Brutus amp that is mounted behind the rear seats. The entire stereo system was professionally installed. The windows have stock privacy glass on the rear glass, and rear passenger windows. The driver side and passenger side windows have 15% tint which was installed professionally. The windshield has a 15% strip of tint. The headlights are 6,000K HID bulbs. The truck has a Magnaflow dual exhaust system that was professionally installed. I am including a full set of rubber Goodyear floor mats. This SS is a head turner. It's FAST and has a top notch stereo system with the interior of a luxury vehicle. Please contact me, Jack, with any questions. I can send more pictures of the few cosmetic problems that I have mentioned earlier.

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
