Up for bid is this 1954 Chevy 3100 5 window pickup. I bought this truck only a few months ago from the son of the orignal owner but because of a family health issue will have to sell. Restoration has been started. It will require some finishing and purchase and installation of new parts although most of the parts that came off the truck come with it. In addition, some new parts, not yet installed, are included. The engine has been professionally rebuilt at a cost of $3000. The brakes have been overhauled with new brake lines. The gas tank, tailgate and radiator are new. The bed looks new but I can't verify that. The engine starts instantly and runs smoothly. It will not shift into 2nd and 3rd at the column although it will by pushing the levers at the bottom of the column. I believe the shift rod that runs down the column into the shift box on top the column is frozen up. It will need to be removed and freed up and lubricated. I have included a lot of detail pictures to provide an accurate indication of the condition. In general this is a real nice truck and an excellent restoration project. It was originally light green but since it has been completely stripped, you pick the color you want to paint it. Clear Kentucky title. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Chevrolet Camaro in Korea - Click above for high-resolution image
There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.
Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
