Rosie is a good girl. She's spent the past 10 years as a farm truck, making trips to the town, the nursery and the dump.  She's not a hot rod, she's a head turning daily driver. She hasn't been driven much over the past year. I inherited her and don't do much more than start her up and polish her. Over the past couple of years the following work has been done:

  •     all new wheel cylinders, new flex brake hoses
  •     new steel brake line, new brake master cylinder
  •     new floor board
  •     new corners on back of cab
  •     new windshield wiper motor
  •     repair and replace fan motor on heater
  •     new fan switch
  •     new rubber hoses on heater
  •     new hoses on heater defroster
  •     new rubber pedals on clutch and brake pedals
  •     new carpet on cab floor
  •     replace bucket seats in cab
  •     new seat cover
  •     prime entire truck and paint
  •     replace all wood in truck bed and stain
  •     build trailer hitch and wire for trailer
  •     install am radio
  •     drain radiator and install anti-freeze
  •     install new fan belt
  •     install new spark plugs
  •     install new carburetor kit
  •     install new electric fuel pump
  •     fix electronic turn signals and horn button
  •     make spare tire bracket
  •     fix cigarette lighter on dash
  •     make new battery box
  •     stain wood racks on bed
  •     install new ignition switch
  •     pack front wheel bearings and new seals
  •     replace on rear spring shackle
  •     make and install glove compartment box
  •     install new head liner and door panels
  •     make new bracket for front seat
  •     install spark booster button
The body is in good shape. The floor has been replaced. She's fun as is, but would also be a wonderful truck for a full restore. We have done our best to describe this truck in current condition. The information in this ad is solely for convenience.  This description is our opinion only.  The vehicle is sold as is.  We reserve the right to end the auction early since the car is being sold locally.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

Veyron and C7 Corvette join cast of Transformers 4

Wed, 29 May 2013

Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the Michael Bay-directed series of Transformers movies has become known as much for its bad acting as its impressive lineup of cars. As filming just started for Transformers 4, Bay's website has confirmed two new cars for the next installment as well as a makeover for everyone's favorite tractor trailer hero, Optimus Prime.
Joining the cast of T4 are a "race-inspired" Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. While Bay's website did not supply names for either car, Bugatti is reporting on its Facebook page that the Veyron will join the Autobots. Speaking of the good guys, top Autobot Optimus Prime is getting an all-new body based on a Western Star with a gaudy appearance that was seemingly inspired by Trick My Truck - right down to the six smoke stacks and side pipes!

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
