1949 CHEVROLET PANEL TRUCK! OVER $30,000 INVESTED! FINISH THIS RESTORATION AND SAVE $$$ !

RARE 1949 CHEVROLET PANEL TRUCK! FULL GROUND UP RESTORATION NEARLY COMPLETED! VERY SOLID & STRAIGHT! REBUILT INLINE SIX!

This Panel Truck has undergone a very lengthy restoration process. It began approximately five years ago and due to some unforeseen circumstances, she was stored away. Tucked away in a climate controlled garage, it wasn't until about two months ago that she was brought out of her cave. As you will see, an extensive amount of work, time, and money have been invested to get her to this point. In my opinion, she is about 90% done. All of the heavy work has been completed. I know that the previous owner had over $30,000 invested in to it. As she sits today, all she needs is some interior work, some trim pieces, some glass, and you could easily have a very nice classic on your hands.

Body: The body on this Panel Truck was completely taken down to bare metal. Every bad piece of metal was cut away and replaced. From what I was told as well as what I have observed, this Panel Truck was relatively solid to begin with. She still retains much of her original sheet metal. The body and paint work were done professionally. The paint is two stage base coat clear coat. It has never been wet sanded or polished which as you will see, she still shines out beautifully. There are no spider webs, cracks, blisters, nor any other major paint blemishes. She is missing her front glass but she does come with her original rear glass for each door. Both pieces are in good shape. She is also missing some of her chrome moldings. The white walls that she sits on are new and they do not have more than 50 miles on them. The bed to the Pickup was completely redone when the body work was being completed.

Engine & Mechanical: The Inline Six in this Pickup was completely tore down and professionally rebuilt. The same as the three speed manual transmission. Both do not leak and both do not have more than 50 miles on them since being installed. The Pickup has a rebuilt 10 bolt underneath it. All of the brake lines, fuel line, and suspension were all redone.

Interior: The interior as you will see, still needs completed. Which someone with a big imagination could take it in many different directions.tainty that it is the only one of its kind. It has the best of all worlds, wrapped up in to one!

These Panel Trucks are absolutely captivating when you see them in person and this one is no exception. If you've got a big family and want to enjoy the luxury of owning a classic, there is no better way to go than with these Panel Trucks. They seem to be one of the few investment grade vehicles that consistently hold as well as grow in value. With this one, you can take comfort in knowing that you'll be getting it at a fraction of what the previous owner had in it. For what we are asking, you couldn't come close to building it to where it sits today. I will be evaluating all reasonable offers and I will in fact sell the 49 early as we do have it for sale "locally". I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to please call or email to schedule a time to come check it out. I would also like to add that I am usually on the phone from 7 AM until about 12 AM so you are always welcome to call and if I do not answer, just leave a message and I will return your call immediately. I know from my own experience with purchasing cars online, most of the time it is very difficult to get someone on the phone and to obtain the information you need. So I try to always stay on top of emails and phone calls. We do have a clear title for this 49. As always, good luck and happy bidding!

Thanks,

Shawn

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
