Up for auction is a *MUST SEE* 1948 CHEVY TRUCK!

This running/driving, unique bare metal truck is sure to turn heads!  The exterior has been stripped and cleared, and the brand new all chrome grille helps give it that "IN YOUR FACE" attitude!  Body does show its 66 years of being an American workhorse, but it only adds to the style and character of the truck, so I chose to leave it as is.  I am wanting to be as honest and upfront as I can, so pictures of what some might consider exterior "flaws", are included in the listing.

The body has been lowered and is setting on an S-10 frame, with disc brakes and power steering.  The bed has been narrowed to fit the chassis, and the wooden plank floor has been raised and notched to clear the custom 1969 beer keg fuel tank.  The front floor pans have been replaced, and the transmission tunnel was fabbed up.  The side vents were welded up, and the door handles shaved with new Bear Claw latches installed.

The engine is a stock 350 with aluminum intake and a new 600 CFM Edelbrock carb.  It is cooled with an aluminum radiator and electric fan.  The exhaust is handled by Hedman Husler fender well headers, dumping through 2.5" straight pipes.  The transmission is a newly rebuilt 350 with Lokar shifter.  Brand new (uninstalled) hood hinges are included as well (see pic).

The interior of the truck is red with new Shark gauges, new wiring harness, new electric wipers, and new windshields and back glass with new rubber.  All lights and gauges work great.

Wheels are Weld Drag Star - 15x3.5 front - 15x8 rear, with 28x11.50/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street rear tires.  The tires have about 50% tread left on the rear and 80% on front.

The truck has that "old school" ratrod look and feel and runs and drives great!  If you like getting attention and the "thumbs up" sign when driving down the road, then this is the truck for you!!!!

IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU ARE UNSURE OF OR HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT, PLEASE ASK PRIOR TO BIDDING!  MORE PICTURES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

TRUCK IS FOR SALE LOCALLY, SO SELLER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.
