Up for sale today is an extremely powerful 1968 Chevrolet Nova II. I have to admit most people curse as soon as you crank the car, it hits that hard!! This car has a professional built, balanced and blueprinted 427 CI Big Block Rat motor courtesy of Sam Odom of S&M Machine Shop in Macon, GA. Horsepower is estimated to be well in excess of 650+ and with the 2,800 lb weight should easily produce 9 sec or possibly high 8 sec 1/4 mile times. I have a full build sheet and every receipt for the engine build which was in excess of $17,000 US. The car has 456 posi, professional built turbo 400 w/reverse valve body, 8" TCI 5500 stall torque converter, Hurst quarter stick with line lock, 1150 Dominator carb, 13.5:1 compression, Bored .60 over, Lunati .780"/.720" roller cam, Square port race prepped heads with big valves, Copper head gaskets, Wiseco high dome pistons, BME Aluminum rods, Lunati roller rockers,Lunati roller lifters, Polished steel crank, Stud girdle, Guide plates, F-M 44 main bearings, 3190 rod bearings, Bal rotating assembly, TCI BBC internal balancer, Edelbrock High-rise intake manifold, S-P 2203110 timing kit, S-M FW 427 flywheel, Electric water pump, MRG 1044 Bronze distributor gear, Hooker headers, Moroso 8qt. oil pan/pickup, High torque mini- starter, 2 chamber Flowmaster mufflers, etc. This car has the factory beefed up multi-leaf rear suspension with traction bars. The car has adjustable shocks, sub-frame connectors, drive shaft safety loop, Weld racing wheels, M/H slicks, leather racing seats w/ 4pt harness & 8pt roll cage. Harwood fiberglass hood, 8-gal fuel cell, trunk mounted battery. Mallory Hyfire ignition, Mallory distributor, MSD coil, Mallory 10,000 RPM tach with shift/rpm limiter, Alsten block dash, There are markings on the 8.5" 10-bolt rear differential that read M21. The car has factory drum brakes front and rear and has only been tested a few times, disc brakes will have to be added all the way around to sit this beast down properly. The car has never been raced and has less than 5 miles since the fresh build. This car is an excellent project near finish, it won't take too much to make it an all out drag car or return it to its original form. You will not be disappointed with this one. The body is solid and straight and there is no rust anywhere except the floor pan behind the drivers seat, you can run a magnet all over this car and it sticks(no Bondo here). I'm motivated to move this bad boy for the right offer, so please don't hesitate to send them in.This car is for sale locally so I reserve the right end the auction when the right offer is presented. Transaction to be finalized in person with certified funds in exchange for a clear title and the beautiful car. A deposit of $2000 dollars is required through Paypal within 24 hours following the sale. Thanks for taking the time to look and good luck if you intend to bid.

The cowl tag reads:       02C                      E
                             ST    68-11427 WRN  40651-Body
                             TR 733                                    H-H-paint

I did some research on the cowl tag and found out the following info: 02C=This car was built in February during the third week of production, 68=1968 year model, 1=Chevrolet, 14=Chevy Nova II-V8, 27=2 door sedan, WRN=Willow Run, MI, 40651=Sequence #, TR 733= Black vinyl bench seat, H-H=Rare factory Grecian Green(lower/upper paint). Not real sure what the "E" stands for but 100% on the other codes.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.

GM recalls Chevy Express, GMC Savana over rollaway concern

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park.
Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
