1972 Monte Carlo

Here is a California rust free 1972 Monte Carlo, it still has its' original blue California license plate issued to it when it was new here in Fresno by Frontier Chevrolet (still has the new car dealership license plate surround frame...front and rear). The car is in stock condition, it still has its' original working AM/FM stereo with 8 track player, and also has a factory tilt steering column. The interior looks to be all original, it even has its' original embroidered seat cloth (as you can see in the pics, they have areas where they have worn/come apart......I love the original design and decided to leave them as-is). The trunk is dry as a bone and still has its' original trunk mat and spare, the original owners manual is still with the car.
The drive train is stock and still has all the factory smog equipment (not needed nowadays). The engine always starts easily and sounds smooth/quiet, the car drives well. We took this car in trade from the second owner, he said the car has one repaint in the late 1990s. The paint in the jambs is still all original, however the paint is showing its' age. I would have no problem enjoying the car as it looks, but the clear coat has come away and the paint has faded somewhat in places due to age and buffing/polishing (see close up pic please). The chrome overall is nice, and the car has the deeper 15"  Chevrolet Rally wheels. Most everything on the car works including the seat belt and door warning buzzers. The a/c will need service/attention. The car has the venerable Chevrolet 12 bolt rear end. If you have any questions, other than "what's your reserve" ;-) you are welcome to contact me through ebay or call my cell# 559-801-8623 anytime between 10am-6pm California time.

NOTE*** due to multiple problems with non-paying zero and/or excessive -ve feedback ebayers, we will only accept bids from such persons after they have provided us with valid contact information, otherwise such bids will not be accepted.

The car is sold as-is and as equipped. However, you are welcome to come see and/or have the car inspected before the end of the sale. Payment is due in full within seven days of the end of the auction. California buyers and all in state sales are subject to sales tax, doc. & lic. fees. In California, all vehicles over ten years old are sold miles 'exempt', the mileage on this vehicle is assumed to have turned over. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
