1982 Gmc Caballero Amarillo Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 4.4l on 2040-cars

1982 GMC Caballero, GMC's re-badge of the El Camino. I've had this since 2001, it is in running condition and has been on the road a few times this year. This is in unfinished condition, the paint is only a few years old now, it is not a professional spray. It had only been meant to keep the body from rusting while the truck was getting worked on.
The underbody was painted a year ago, as deep in every nook and cranny and frame rail as I could reach. I am selling it because I was laid off last year and no longer have the funds to continue restoring it and do not have the room to keep an unfunded project. As is, it is in driving condition with some new parts all around, like rear springs and shocks, heater-blower control switch, door-window-felts, heat-shielding/anti-vibration masking on the roof, doors and rear cab. Underbody has been cleaned and painted, body was painted to keep car from rusting (it's a preventive paint job, nothing pretty), the bed coated in bedliner. The interior has been stripped, the AC has been removed, the seats are leather buckets but not original to the car. The car will come with lots of parts both new and old including AC parts, the factory manual, assorted fasteners and spare bits, extra wire harnesses, extra gauges, new front springs, new dome light, and lots more. I did register it this year and had it inspected: It failed because of the following: - The heater/defroster blows on 1, 2, and 3 but when on the highest setting the fan stops. I already bought a new switch but it did not fix the problem. So it may be the relay or a ground wire. - The speedometer and odometer are also not working. I think it is the trans end of the speedo cable but am not sure. - The reverse lights did not correspond to the reverse selection on the column. It was just the indicator switch, I reset it and it works fine. The switch is new and slipped out of place. Given the situation I am not looking to put any more work into the vehicle, just sell it As Is. They should be quick fixes if you want to drive the vehicle asap, or easy additions to a restoration. If you have any questions please send a note. I can upload more pictures by request until the last day of the auction I think so if there's something you'd like a closer look at, let me know. GM tells 2021 Chevy Express and GMC Savana owners to park vans outside due to fire risk
Thu, Apr 1 2021GM is telling owners of certain 2021 Chevrolet Express and 2021 GMC Savana work vans to park them outside and away from other vehicles and structures due to a fire risk. Additionally, the company is recalling 10,154 of the vans it believes to be at risk of catching fire. The breakout is 7,891 for Chevy and 2,223 for GMC. Only vehicles equipped with the 6.6-liter V8 (the new-for-2021 engine option) are included in the recall, and it’s limited to vans produced on or prior to December 7, 2020. The problem stems from some anti-rotation tabs on the positive battery terminal that are too close to a fuse block assembly attachment post. This lack of clearance could cause the tabs to come into contact with the fuse block, causing a short circuit. GM points out that a short-circuit of this nature could cause battery drain or lead to a fire under the hood. Your warning for the time being will come in the form of a low battery voltage warning, or you might just wake up with an unexpected dead battery. GM says that it first opened an investigation into this problem on January 26 this year after it was notified of an underhood battery fire on a 2021 Express. The investigation found three other underhood fires and concluded that these fires were originating from the positive battery cable attachment near the fuse. This recall was officially posted on March 11 this year, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration just sent a notification out to the media yesterday. The fix is a relatively simple one. Dealers are going to remove a portion of the anti-rotation tab on both positive battery cable terminals near the fuse block assembly attachments. This increases the clearance and eliminates the risk of fire, GM says. The job will be done under warranty, and GM says it will begin contacting owners for recall work on May 3 this year. GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
GM recalls Colorado, Canyon, and Malibu for airbag problem
Wed, Mar 9 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall and issue a stop sale on 1,740 total examples of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, Malibu, and GMC Canyon. This includes 1,579 units in the US and 161 in Canada. The Problem: The second stage of the driver front airbag inflator might not be present. If this happens, the airbag won't fill as quickly as it should in a high-speed crash, which could increase the risk of injury, according to Reuters. This is not related in any way to Takata's inflator problems, and these parts come from a different supplier. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: GM will replace the vehicles' airbag assemblies. If You Own One: GM spokesperson Tom Wilkinson told Autoblog he wasn't specifically sure when recall repairs would begin but said it would be "shortly." He expects the fixes to happen "quickly" because of the small number of affected vehicles, and many of them are either in transport or already in dealer stock. More Information: GM recalled the 2015 Canyon and Colorado in 2014 for a completely separate airbag issue. In that case, a manufacturing error improperly wired the connectors. Related Video: GM Statement GM is recalling 1,579 MY 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the United States and 161 in Canada to replace driver-side front airbags. The second stage of the airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. During a routine quality inspection, it was determined that a component required for a second-stage/high-output deployment was not loaded during the inflator build. Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag assembly. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls.
