Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States

WOW !!    1972 Chevy Elcamino SS .   Original 22,484 Documended miles !!!    402 Big Block , Turbo 400 Transmission!!

My  Dad is 86 years old and has this from 1987.   Sounds super !!   402 big block, turbo 400 automatic trans .  Posi Rear .  It had the original tiger paw 60 series tires, on when he got it,  he took them off years ago, the tread was very good, but they were all hard as a rock, due to age.  So replaced them with 4 goodyear  GT tires.    Years ago , while in the garage around 1990, it got hit by the riding lawn mower in the garage, and dented in the drivers quarter panel.  Being this truck is so original, we didnt want any body filler in it,  so the the whole quarter panel was replaced witha geniune GM quater from, Strohl Chevrolet, that is now out of buisness.   Had  the  quarter panel professionally put on, and had the whole truck repainted with the hugger orange.  Also put a new vinyl top put on, because the quarter panel seem is under the top .     THe paint job is absolutley  flawless show quality, with a incredible shine.

Has the front disc brakes, PS , PB , Working facory air conditioning.  Original AM radio.   The person before my dad, put aftermarket guages,  and a 8 track player, and a air shock adjusted under the dash.

This is a real, original SS,  not a put together clone, from pieces.  This is all original drivetrain,  original miles, 22,484  !!!!!!!       Garage kept always, never seen any rain, bad weather ever since 1987 !!!

Has the original cowl hood, with original hood pins.  The interior is all original,  except a new headliner!!  THe original has a little hole!!   Seat, door panels , carpet, dash ,  ALL ORIGINAL !!!

IF you want a magnificent low mileage show quality elcamino, you will not find a nicer one...Period !!  Super solid underneath with no rust. !!!!!!!!!!  Super straight body !!!!!!!   It is nice !!!!  Any questions please ask.

Terms paypal  nonrefundable deposit of 100.00 dollars due within 3v days after auction ends.  With hold for 4 weeks , if coming from out of area.  I would recommed to trailer this, due to highway, stone chips.

I will take a check, of any form,  the truck stays till it clears,, no exceptions, or cash at pick up is fine. It is  sold as-is , due to age, no warrenty.  I dont know of anything it needs.  Do not come and expect a test drive to beat this vehicle in any way, it has been taken care of for the last 27 years!!!!  It had about 1,100 miles put on it in, 27 years!!!!!

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
