1987 Corvette project car runs & drives. 4+3 manual transmission. I believe it to be a Z51 as it says so in the center console. I believe the 68,033 miles are authentic. I have owned the car for almost three years it was bought as a project car and kept in my garage all that time. It is sold with a Maine title signed by the previous owner. I have never had it registered or on the road.

I put on custom rims and new tires, K&N air filter, spark plugs, thermostat. The exterior is in decent condition there is a large section on the hood where the paint is chipping off. Other than that I think it just needs a paint job. The interior is in fair shape the main exception is that both seats are in bad shape and so is the leather on the steering wheel. I also have the drivers door panel that is not in the pics or the video.

Some things I know don't work passenger headlight motor, drivers window, emergency brake, power adjustable seat.

Check out the video to see the car running. It doesn't smoke or leak any fluids. Transmission shifts into all four gears. What you don't really see in the video is that when you first start the car it usually runs a little rough for 30-60 seconds then smooths out and runs fine. I suspect really old gasoline might be the issue, but who knows. I know this car can yard drive but I've never had it out on the road most of my driving in it has been backing in and out of the garage to be worked on. Also to answer the question would I feel comfortable driving this car to California NO. I know the car works but I can't recommend anyone driving it to its destination it would be foolish. I don't mind storing this for a while if needed just let me know first. This is a project car it needs quite a bit of TLC I did my best to describe it but please ask questions if you have any.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
