Up for auction is a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette T-Top Coupe in very nice condition. It is equipped with a 427 cubic inch engine with a single 4-barrell carb. The car has an automatic transmission but did come new with a factory 4-speed rock crusher trans. The clutch pedal assembly is still in the car pulled up out of the way should someone want to bring it back to the stick trans. This exchange happened as I understand it about 22 years ago so that the wife could drive it. The car was painted way back then as well and has been well cared for being kept in nice condition. While the car shows well and has been sheltered, it is obviously not top show quality as there are some chips and small scratches and blemishes in the paint as you would expect. For a mighty big block car, it has taken the years very well and gets a lot of attention no matter where you go.

The car has a new interior carpet set and door panels but does still have the original seats. The driver's seat has a split on the seam that can be seen in a picture. All the tires and brakes are new as well as many mechanical parts that can be seen in the pictures on close examination. The car has a lot of power as you would expect, the transmission shift will jerk your head if not carefull, and the car goes straight with no pulling or front end shimmy or vibrations. The T-Tops fit as designed and still has the original storage bags pictured. The radio plays and the power antenna works well.

I have included a picture of the car running to show the gauges. The readings are perfect and to add a surprise, the clock STILL WORKS and keeps proper time. How about that!!!

The rally wheels are nice with very nice centers and beauty rings. That is a surprise as they are usually curbed.

Under the hood is non detailed but shows very nicely. There are new parts shown, aluminum big block valve covers and new air cleaner and vacuum control for wipers. Also, You will see in one of the pictures a new booster for the headlights to make them go up and down and they do. What more can I say. You can fly in and drive it home as I don' see any reason for doubting it. Use it like it is, go to shows, perform in rallys, or put a set of seat covers on it and some touch up to make it show.

If you are not local and want to send someone to check it out, I will assist their efforts where necessary. If shipping is involved, I will provide whatever assistance to help.

I have a lot of up close detailed pictures of the car, chrome, lights, etc I can send to you upon request. Send your email address and I will forward them to you for more detail. There are about twenty.

Good luck bidding and if you have less than 5 feedbacks, contact me to discuss.

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
