Beautiful 1964 Corvair Monza Coupe. A great little car to run around in this summer! It has the basic engine, 2 carburetors, 110 HP, 4 speed manual transmission. Beautiful paint job, the previous owner must have spent a fortune on the paint. So why are we selling? Because we bought an even nicer 1963 Spider (turbo).

We represent this car as accurate as possible. The car runs perfectly, shifts well, no known problems. Floors are solid. No rust issues, no significant flaws.

The paint job is better than the pictures show. It is an incredible paint job, better than new, the only flaw being some bubbling on the little panel below the back bumper, you really have to look for it.

The interior is excellent except the back panel below the rear window ( a little faded), and we have a brand new replacement for it. The headliner is a little faded, but not a big deal. We include new replacement seat belts because the stock ones are a bit stiff from age. There are some scratches on the bottom interior of the driver door, perhaps from a driver's foot. The rest of the interior is excellent, either very well kept or replaced, we can't tell. Radio appears to be original, but the trim is not painted to match. We are told they were often added by the dealer and the trim piece not painted.

We replaced the carbs and did a complete complete tune up. New fan belt. Parts are all from Clark's Corvair, an excellent source of parts and tech advice on the Web.

When we bought it, we had trouble with stalling, and found the problem was a dirty fuel filter. We fixed that and also removed the gas tank and made sure it was clean. We replaced the carburetors and had them set up by a local expert to be 100% sure and it really runs great. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.

Along with showroom paint, the chrome is very good to excellent, if you get within 12" you can see some tiny pitting on door handles.

Ask questions, please. Come see and drive it if you're nearby. We're located 3 miles inland of the ocean in Wall Township, inland of Manasquan, NJ (half way between New York and Atlantic City.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:
