1965 Chevy Corvair 500 4dr Sedan on 2040-cars

Pittstown, New Jersey, United States

I just acquired this beauty. I don't have the time to give her to restore her back. The previous owner did alot of work on this car.  It's a 95HP/Auto with 99K on it and with care will possibly go another 99K.Engine = rebuilt carbs, wires, plugs, cap & rotor, air cleaner, fuel pump, coil belt, balancer & seal, "O" rings, valve cover gaskets, pan gasket, muffler donuts, good exhaust (very quite).  New heater hoses and lower shroud thermostats. Trans/Diff = transmission was flushed (not converter) and filter checked and cleaned, new fluids for bother and are quite, shift smoothly with no gear noise or whining.  Very smooth and tight. Brakes = rebuilt master cylinder, steel line in the rear as well as rubber, pads all around have plenty of life, front cross member replaced with solid 65, new shocks (all around) idler are, pitman arm bushing and tires.  Front bearings cleaned and repacked, rears quite with no unusual vibrations or whine. Body/Interior = The body on this car is extremely solid. Floors are original and solid. drivers side door has about a 2" rust hole from what appears to have been a small hit at one time but not serious.  What you see is surface rust and discoloration. Body interior color combination is pretty.  Interior is all original and 98% perfect (years of dirty pant seats have left their mark.  Dash is incredible (crisp and clean).  All glass is clean with no chipping and front windshield is tinted.  Door panels are perfect and windows roll up and down smoothly.  wind noise while driving is almost nil .As mentioned above, this is a true daily driver that has never let me down.  I've driven it in all kinds of weather and it performs beautifully.  Does not leak when it rains and there are NO fowl odors with the heat or defrost on or with "AIR" down which all cables work smoothly.  There is this neat after market manual windshield sprayer in the truck with the pump lever under the dash.  It needs a bag but would bet it works.  Guessing this was dealer install, but has never seen one before. This car would only need slight bodywork and paint to be a show winner. It will give you years of enjoyment as a daily as well but deserves to be painted. As far what I can see the runs fine and just needs some TLC. Currently the speedometer was disconnected and was told by the original owner he was in the process of connecting it. It also needs carpeting.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes

Tue, 28 Aug 2012

Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting?
