Hopkinsville, Kentucky, United States

1963 Chevrolet Corvair For Sale or Swap!  Engine, carbs and wheel cylinders completely rebuilt.  New gas tank and tires.  Car runs great!  This is a California model which has the antenna in the rear of the car as opposed to the front.  Also has working original AM/FM radio (factory option)  All glass is good, heat works.  Car has 4 speed transmission that was gone through when engine was rebuilt.  Clutch is good.  Paint on car is very good.  Red with white top.  Both floor pans have been replaced.  Carpet is also new.  All the hard and expensive stuff has been done.

Car needs new headliner and seat covers.  Headliner will run $100 from Clarks Corvair and black seat covers run about $400 for the set.  I would finish the seats and headliner in black.   Car has a ding on the front passenger side fender that has been pulled and painted to keep it from rusting (see pic)    This could either be repaired or replaced.  A fender would run you around $100. I believe the best way to fix it is to replace the fender and have it painted.  Car turns heads now and can be used as a dependable daily driver the way it sets or you could finish out the few odds and ends and have a slick weekend cruiser.

Shipping will be paid for by the purchaser but I will help accommodate in any way I can.  Non-refundable $500 PayPal deposit due 72 hours after end of auction.  Car is located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky which is 60 miles north of Nashville, TN.

Car is for sale/swap locally and I reserve the right to end auction at any time.  I would be willing to trade the car for a pick up but would entertain any offer as long as it is an automobile.  Please call or text 270 four98 zero2five6.  If you have a swap I would need you to text/email me a pic and description of it.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
