1991 Chevy Camaro Rs Convertible, 3.1 V6 Auto, New Tires & Mechanicals, Nice Car on 2040-cars

Year:1991 Mileage:110000
Location:

Watseka, Illinois, United States

Watseka, Illinois, United States

For sale: 1991 Chevy Camaro RS Convertible with factory ordered 3.1 liter V6      (231 cubic inch) motor, automatic overdrive transmission, factory convertible, air conditioning, power brakes and steering, cruise, and AM/FM cassette player. It is a two-owner car with 110,000 original miles on it – it is a great driver and is a model that you don’t see (700 made in 1991). Car comes with manual, new car cassette, original order sticker, and clear title. It is selling for a fair price with no reserve!*****

BODY: Car has a white exterior, gray cloth interior and carpet, and a black convertible top. Paint is original and very nice driver quality except the front end was repainted due to chips (2 years ago), the  hood was replaced with a fancier 1992 hood, and the ground effects on the bottom of the doors were repainted. The car presents well except for: the underside edge of the trunk lid is rusty and needs to be either replaced or cut out and patched (just on the underside – closes/locks fine), some slight surface rust around the wheel well opening, just on the lip, on the driver's side front and rear wheel openings, and there is a spot of rust under the spoiler on the driver's fender front and a slight blister under the mirror mount on the driver's door. Underside is clean and structurally sound. There are a couple of touched up scratches on the trunk, a couple of dings on the driver’s door, and some light spider age cracking on the rear bumper.

Black convertible top is also original, it is in good shape, however the back plastic window is out of it and would either need to be re-sewn in (details on the internet on the kit/piece to buy and how to do it), or the top replaced or left as it is. Edge welting on the top shows some age cracking, but works fine and presents fine. This car has a manual top, it has an electrical switch to open the top well (switch is not working), but it does have a manual pull to open the well instead, and it works fine to raise and lower the top to/from storage. The front windshield is also new as it got a rock chip a year ago while driving and the interior is very nice except for some wear as shown on the driver’s seat.

MECHANICAL: Car runs and shifts great – within the last year, the car has had a complete tune up and fluid change, new injectors, new EGR valve, a new fuel tank, fuel pump and sleeve, lines and sender (GM pieces), and new exhaust (Flowmaster). I have also had the brakes gone through – redone rotors up front with new pads, turned drums in rear with new shoes and new brake lines. Tires were purchased new and now have 10,000 miles on them (Goodyear Eagle P225-60s). Car has also had a new battery installed, a new drive belt, and new style headlights. Car honestly runs strong and correct with no issues – pretty amazing performance and fuel economy from this engine – love it with the top down in summer!*****

TITLE: Car has a clear title in my name and will be signed off to new owner.

PAYMENT: Paypal can be used to pay the $1000 deposit for the car within 3 days of the sale’s end. Balance is due within two weeks after that – either by cash at pickup or by bank wire transfer (call for bank, account, and bank contact details). If fully paid for up front, car can stay stored here for up to 30 days at no charge, after 30 days, I will refund all money, except the deposit, and relist the car.

QUESTIONS: If questions contact Dr. Brian using the email link above and to the right in this ad that mentions “ask seller a question”.  Car is located 1.5 hours south of Chicago, Illinois (zip 60970) and about 15-20 miles west of the Illinois/Indiana state line. We are in a rural area, so easy to find and easy access. Please feel free to come and view the car/drive it or send someone to do so. Contact me before coming so I can be sure to be here! Thanks for looking!!!*****

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
