I have for sale a 1972 Chevrolet K-10, originally assembled in St. Louis and with 116 miles on a complete restoration. This truck has a 4" suspension lift, 33" Thornbirds, and Rancho shocks and dual shock steering stabilizer.
The engine is a freshly rebuilt 350 ci bored .060 over, Lunati camshaft w/ .458 lift (awesome lope at idle), Edelbrock intake and carb, K&N air cleaner, polished ceramic-coated headers with exhaust dumps followed by 3" pipes running through true dual Flowmaster 44's. The transmission is a TH350 with a B&M Uni-matic floor shifter. The fuel tank was relocated to a chrome truck box in the bed, which looks great whether the bed cover is hiding it or not. It has an electric fuel pump.
The body and frame were sandblasted removing all previous paint work; the chassis has gloss black urethane and the body is GM Sunburst Orange Metallic. The shocks and driveshaft cover were painted to match the body. This truck has seen no rain, snow, mud... it was built to resemble a mud toy and would be fun in four wheel drive, but it's been maintained strictly as a show truck.
The interior has been updated with a flip-down console bench seat and Pioneer stereo with Rockford-Fosgate 3-way subs/amp. The truck has new glass all the way around, including a full side window kit that eliminated the vent windows. The truck was reassembled with a new wiring harness and blade style fuse block; none of the original wiring was used in reassembly.
I have a binder packed full of receipts, the truck is priced well below the investment that was made. I'm not going to advertise it as a 100 point show truck, but it is definitely a head-turner and has done great in carshows. I hate to turn loose of this truck but it must go for personal reasons.

New Bright creating exclusive 1:8 scale radio-controlled C7 Corvette

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

If you want a new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette but can't quite save up enough pennies for the monthly payment, we have good news for you. Toymaker New Bright has pulled the covers off of its 1:8 scale remote-controlled version of the American sports car. Complete with a very detailed interior and LED headlights, this large-scale R/C is as close as most of us will ever come to having one of the menacing Chevrolet models to call our very own. New Bright still hasn't released pricing or availability, but word has it the coupe should hit the market soon.
Right now, it appears as if the C7 will hit shelves in Torch Red, though we don't know if other colors are planned as well. The good news is that New Bright isn't exactly turning its back on the old C6 - representatives say the company will continue to make its popular C6R racecar for those who prefer round taillights.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
