Lots of custom stuff on this truck I built for my son but he wants to get a car with better gas mileage.  It has 205 k miles but runs great. Trans shifts perfect. My son is a mechanic so he kept it well maintained. It has a 350 (5.7) engine with stock automatic transmission. Short bed extended cab with cowl induction hood 4 wheel drive that works great. Has a 6" lift with RCD torsion bar suspension with 16" eagle alloy wheels with 35" Khumo tires but can handle much bigger tires.    K&N cold air intake with power lid. HID headlights (6000 K).  Smoked headlight,  tail lights, turn signals and side markers. Molded rear roll pan and vented front bumper.  Custom skid plate and phantom front grill. Duel Flow master exhaust. Custom smooth bed rails. New brakes all around and new calipers. Completely new front end- upper and lower A frame bushings, upper and lower ball joints, stabilizer bushings and wheel bearings and all tie rods are new Moog replacements (not cheep ones). 4/10 differential gearing.    Stereo has two 10" Rockfordfosgate punch series sub wolfers with two Polk audio 6x9 rear speakers, two 4x6 front speakers. Rockfordfosgate 4 channel 800 watt amp.         New carpet kit and headliner. Door pins and springs have ben replaced. Tinted windows with dark tint 5% vlt. New water pump, hoses and thermostat. New fuel injectors and AC components and new ignition lock cylender. New catelitec converter.   Just passed California smog in December. New Battery.  Truck origionally came from Arizona when I bought it, since then its ben in California.   Absolutely no rust ANYWHERE. frame was painted with bedliner as well as the bed. Holes in top of bed rails have ben smoothed.
Door locks are a little sticky and need to be cleaned. Tires have about 60% of tread left.  No guarantees written or implied.
This truck looks, runs and sounds, bad ass.   Good luck.........

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
