1987 chevy truck, 1 ton axles 4;88 gears auburn lockers,4linked with 16'' kings, cross over steering with hydro assit,1995 12v Cummins built, full race pump,66m turbo,ddp 100 hp injectors, aluminum intake with heater delete-ringed and receiver grooved,arp studs, 60#valve springs,titanuim retainers,5k gov springs, dyno 498hp/1080torqe.2 yr old flaw less, rust free paint, 1 pc windows all new glass, line x bed and inside cab. dyno matt interior, brand new oem Chevy dash yes last new oem in the usa. new door panels, dash vents and trim. black carpet, black cloth seat with grey vinyl trim. boost,egt,oil, temp auto meter gauges. interior is complety stock except for turbo action cheetah floor shifter.tranny is 3 months old with new triple disc converter, billet input, has lock up and over drive.t case is a brand new low max all new 3-1 205 with 1410 yokes. rear shaft is a tom woods BAMF shaft high angle $800 3 month's old. Axles is Dana 60,4;88,spool,35 spline hub to hub, trussed with hydro assist rock ram, rear 14bolt 4;88 auburn limited slip, trussed with pinion guard. Suspension is 4 linked with 1-1/4" heims,16'' king coil overs,1-1/8' sway bars,all DOM tubing,blue torch fab axle trusses front and rear. Brand new 22''x14'' fuel chrome wheels with brand new 40'' toyo mt. Truck is very very fast, very street able, safe, will cruise 75-80 mph on high way at 2200-2300 rpm in over drive and lock up. best of everything, no cost spared owned truck for 10+ years. paint is perfect, no dents, no rust hood is a glass 4'' cowl, clear marker and turn lamps. New grill, painted and body worked around inter cooler and tranny cooler. I have suspension lowered to fit in garage, can be lifted up 4-6" higher. I like it sitting on the tires not skied. All truck needs is float replaced in tank, diesel ate foam float. A/c is ice cold, truck is a dream to drive, smooth ride, excellent steering and brakes. can be a daily driver. truck avg 12-14 mpg, I'm sell this one to fund new build a 4 door 80 model with 12v. basically going to be same truck but with 4 doors. GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir.
