1971 Chevy 4X4 with a 1993 GMC bed.  The 307 engine runs and looks great(previous owner said he had it rebuilt).  The frame has been bead sanded and painted.  The bed comes with a good looking bed liner with one small crack and the bed itself has no rust.  The interior is in good condition but has a tear on the bench seat.  It has the original AM radio. The 3 speed manual transmission on the three works great(most of these were converted to automatics).  The tires are at 60% and would pass a safety inspection.  Both fenders have rust.  One has only a small amount and can be easily repaired.  For the other I have a used replacement fender from another 71 in good condition.  The two inner fenders have significant rust.  One can definately be repaired, very possibily both.  But at 150.00 each from J.C. Whitley it s propably cheaper to just buy new ones.  The frame is in very good condition except for the crossmember under the center of the bed which is rusty but can be repaired.  The rocker panels both need to be replaced as well as the cab floor. I have two brand new rocker panels still in the box. whick like the fender are included with the truck. The exhaust pipes are rusted.   All the glass in the truck is in good condition except for the mirrors(one of them is cracked).  The grill is missing a two inch slat in front of the hood release as seen in the picture.  The horn does not work and has a crack in the steering wheel and the bed latch doesn't work and it needs a rear bumper.  So to recap the drive train and bed are in very good condition and the cab and exhaust needs work. I have been very honest as I expect a seller to be with me when I buy a vehichle. The last picture is what I was aiming at with this truck but I am moving to Florida(retirement) and am selling most of my cars. The truck is sold as is.  My reserve is 3K which is worth the drive train and bed alone. Thanks and happy bidding.  I can be reached at 910-425-0068.

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
