1965 Chevrolet C10 short bed step side pickup truck. 19,000 miles approx. on a new 350 motor right out of the crate, new transmission, driveline, steering column, flowmaster exhaust, on and on. I bought the truck on ebay from Texas, had a mechanic drop in the new engine and all the mechanical work(just about everything was replaced). I had Josh Carter autobody take the body all apart, sand blast it to bare metal (except cab), weld in any new metal needed, replaced body parts, prime and paint color (Corvette Torch Red) and clear coat. Many new chrome and parts from classic truck catalog, new seat upholstery, new wiring harness etc. etc. The truck has a few needs, some gauges don't work(fuel, odometer). The odometer broke at 57000 miles, but actually it has about 19,000 miles on the engine. I believe that a new dash gauge kit from catalog should fix this, or it might be as simple as a new cable connector, the gas gauge might be as simple as a new float in the gas tank. I am not an automotive individual, so I don't know how to check to see if those simple solutions might be the problem and I have already put over $20,000 into the vehicle and don't want to invest any more, as I don't use the truck anymore. I have had the truck for almost 8 years (it was in pieces for 1 1/2 years) I used to drive it to work and back 2 days a week, but am now retired and have no need for the truck. I have all documention for what was put into the truck. The truck has always been kept in the garage and not driven in the weather and it comes with custom truck cover (I used it when I parked on campus, where I worked). The truck sits in our garage, but I do take it out on the road every couple of weeks for 10-20 miles just to keep everything up. This truck is very nice and would make a great vehicle for someone's hobby, or as a fun truck to drive.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
