Selling my 55 chevy 210 2-door sedan.  2-tone paint shows really well.  Chrome and stainless are great, glass is good and operates properly, has new power front disc brakes, new body mounts, new engine mounts.  Engine is a freshly rebuilt 355 hooked up to a 4-speed transmission.  Has 10-bolt camaro rear-end (non-posi unit).  Nice American Racing 17" wheels with new premium Toyo tires.  Fairly new exhaust and headers.  New gauges, carpet, wiring and trunk mat.  1-pc California frame and frame braces are rock solid.  Floor pans are repaired but are rock solid as well.  Has new inner/outer rockers on drivers side but has a hole on inner rocker on passenger side--repair piece included in sale.  Just put a new trunk mat in it and trunk is solid as well.  Has a new aluminum radiator and engine runs quiet, cool, and has no leaks.  Speedometer cable is new and speedometer operates freely but trans needs the little nylon gear that turns the cable.  Car has nice seats but door panels and headliner are out of car.  Some rust was repaired at headlight area but replacement fenders are available to available to purchaser after sale for $200 each.  Car has a few new emblems on it and rear quarter stainless spears are new.  If you like the old-school 4-speed cruisers, this is your car!  Email me with any questions and good luck bidding.  Car is for sale locally.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum.
