1956 Chevy 1955 1957 on 2040-cars

This is a 1956 Chevy 2-door Belair. that was originally Blue and White. As you can see from the pictures it needs re-done but is pretty complete. It has a 350 with a turbo 400 automatic transmission. Both motor and tranny work well. I did drive this one home and everything worked ok except the heater. The signals work but the lever is coming lose. It's loud and noisy with a exhaust leak in the dual pipes. Radio didn't work. It's a aftermarket tape player. May not be hookd up. I have repaired  the rust by the hood hinges and  the bottom of the front fenders behind the front tires. They both have headlight caps. It has new outer rockers and lower rear patch panels that were put on 20+ years ago. The trunk and rear floors are good. The fronts floors need replaced .The inner rockers have been patched. It needs inner rockers and all the floor braces need the outer ends repaired or replaced. It needs the rear tail pan. With all that being said it has a decent driver interior. It runs and drives decent for a old hot rod. Hard to find this complete. The glass is all good except the windshield is old and smokey along the bottom. I am a Kansas dealer so Kansas residents need to pay 8.8% sales tax to me. Other states pay in you home state. A non- refundable deposit of 500.00 is due within 48 hours and the balance within 7 day's. I prefer a wire transfer or cash on the balance. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to sell at any time. I am moving from Hiawatha to Kansas City,Mo and have the car in Kansas City now. You can look or pick it up from either place. Thanks. Call Scott 816-506-3789        I looked today and the toe boards are decent and the right front brace is good. The drivers rear floor is intact but weak on the outer edge. Both front floor pans need replaced. It was loud inside because the right front floor has a 6 inch hole in it and the tailpipe on the right side needs re attached.   Added 12/17/13    I replaced the starter and it works fine. The flywheel does have some worn teeth.  Also the motor is a later model 350 I believe as the oil dip stick is on the right side. I have removed most of the yellow paint. I'm still thinking which way to go on the floor.  Thanks, Scott    I can bring it to the Wichita, Kansas swapmeet Friday Feb 7 [if the weather isn.t to bad ].I have to work my part time job Saturday so I'll only be ther Friday.

C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.
