Up for sale is a 1955 Chevy 210 Post. The car is very clean and very straight. As you walk up to the car you will notice the paint is very clean with no blemishes, it looks wet even though it isn’t. It sits at a good height, it’s not slammed in the dirt and it’s not jacked up too high. The wheels and tires are not too big and not too small; they seem to fill the fender wells just right. Take a closer look and see that all the seams are very straight and the jambs are very clean. Open the door and you will instantly notice the leather interior, black in color. Very clean lines and well maintained. Door panels are in great shape. All chrome is like new, windows roll down and up with ease. Seat splits to let passengers in and out of the back seat. As you look down you will see a Hurst Shifter for the 4-speed Muncie transmission. It is made for this car it is bent the right way to allow for the bench seat. All belts are in place and working. This car has a wonderful digital dash all gauges work and are easy to read. On the passenger side of the dash there is a digital clock. The car has Vintage Air for summer cruise ins. Heat also works well for a cruise in the cooler days. Carpet is practically brand new. Glass is in new condition, mirrors are in new condition. As you get out you will notice that you do not have to slam the door to close them, they sound very solid and put together well. Walk around and open the hood and you will see a 350 cubic inch small block Chevy, 300 horsepower, with aluminum intake. A very nice all aluminum radiator, and the engine is well dressed and clean. But not overstated. Car has headers and turndowns for a deep sound that has to be heard in person to appreciate. As you drive the car, the power steering is awesome with ease of turning like no other. You can park this car with one finger. The system is setup for easy driving. Highway driving is great with this car you can easily drive this car at 70 mph without turning too many RPM. Car is very quiet with no rattles and shakes. And the brakes are wonderful. Stop hard and the car stays straight, it does not stray to the left or the right. Car has plenty of power, so you can cruise and then on occasion, push that right pedal down and have some fun.

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
