1995 Chevy Astro 8 Passenger Van (Newer face-lifted version) Good Camper / Work van truck Was a volunteer for church transportation and light cargo transportation for a brief period of time but since moved. It does minor have issues that would require work, hangs a little going into reverse, Starts and runs. been driving recently. Sold As-Is 2nd owner only. Van was well loved at a shy 205k miles (mostly highway). For those who do not know, The Chevy Astro van is probably the best in class for Utility / transportation based on a reliable Truck chassis. that has a strong power plant (4.3L Vortec) that seats 8 or able to carry massive loads / tow capability The van is in overall good condition , but its not perfect. but has been well treated. We are surprised it fits inside our small two car garage. Van has radio, central locking , all electronics works except passenger side window. Has maintenance work done 2 years ago on exhaust system and checks (with receipts) Pros: -CLEAN title on hand -Removable 2nd / 3rd row seats -New Strong Battery (Duralast gold w/ 3 years warranty) -Good tires (with Tire chains for winter) -Body work has minor dings -Recently Renewed Tabs good till next year July (Passed emissions testing) -Tow Package Needs work -paint wear on hood (replacement hoods can be found for $50-75) -cracked windshield (does not affect driving ability or leaks) -side passenger door handle broken , window doesn't roll (entire replacement door can be found for $100) -needs ABS fused replace -Needs new A/C pump (Heater still works) |

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
