You are looking at a fully restored, ready to drive, show, enjoy 1966 VW Beetle continuously registered California "Black Plate" car. This car is and has always been a rust free example.
All major components have been replaced or restored. It is literally too much to list. Think of this as a car that was completely disassembled an then built as it was in 1966 only with upgraded parts and pieces. Inspect the car or have someone look at it for you. The last owner spent over $18,000 on the restoration with $5500 spent on the motor alone. The motor was done by Pete at HBVW in Huntington Beach, California and this is essentially a "Porsche" VW. Complete EMPI components with rev limiter, clutch, transmission etc upgrades. This car doesn't only "keep up with traffic" traffic has to keep up with it. The car drives, shifts, stops better than it ever did in '66.
Note the Kenwood Stereo with custom CS speaker tray that DOES NOT affect the stock restoration as it is all a "lift out" package.
Cosmetically the exterior is overall in very good to excellent condition. There are a few rock chips that have been nicely touched up. The chrome bumpers/over riders and stainless are excellent as is all the bright work. The body is straight with no "waves" or dings. The enterior is correct and excellent. The glass is new. The tires are as new.
Everything works although the gas gauge is sporadic and I intend to have it repaired prior to delivery.
This car sounds like a Porsche 356 "Outlaw" but looks bone stock to the casual observer...speaking of which this car draws a crowd wherever it goes, so don't go to Starbucks unless you want to have a conversation.
It's ready for summer fun and literally could be driven every day.
I welcome inspections before you bid or buy but understand if you bid and win you own this car as this is a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT. I stopped advertising on Ebay a couple of years ago because I grew tired of DREAMERS and people that thought this was a video game. I am happy to answer any and all questions.
Bottom line, this is a great car ready to be enjoyed.

Volkswagen hatches hotter GTI in Geneva
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't even launched here in the United States, but over in Geneva, we're already getting our first glimpse at the hotter GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.
The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.
On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She's certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf's design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.
Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires
Mon, 11 Mar 2013There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.
Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen
Tue, 05 Mar 2013In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
