Up for sale is a privately owned 1996 MKIV Supra BPU TT Auto (an orginal TT chassis from the factory), targa, Deep Jewel Green (Toyota 6P3), 101,700 ODO, no liens, rebuilt TN title in hand.

This is a project car that I took on last Spring with the intention of repairing it. I've made some progress in past few months, but I haven't had time to finish what I originally wanted to do with the car.  In the past year the car has recieved a new windshield, a new carbon fiber hood, new OEM front bumper, and fenders. The front end was painted in the OEM 6P3 using a Dupont uranthane. The car is close to having daily drivability again, however the exterior and interior still need plenty of TLC. In paticular, the passenger rocker panel has damage, (the car will come with a OEM replacement rocker panel) and also the driver side quarter panel has minor damage.  Eventually, the car should be taken to a body shop for the repairs and a complete re-spray.

Mechanically, the car is sound, the engine, transmission, and stock turbos are all in good shape.  The engine runs well with no leaks, the boost works as it should.  The car does produce a small amount of smoke occasionally on cold starts, and the check engine light is currently on for the EGR, which hasn't affected the drivability.

Overall, the car is fine to be driven and is capable of long distance trips, but it will require bodywork and attention to detail in order to be complete again.

Mods:
Tein Coilovers
HKS Intercooler with 3 inch piping
Blitz Dual SBC Boost Controller
Greddy BCC
3inch Exhaust and Downpipe
Mojo Performance LQ9 Coil Kit
AEM Cam Gears
Greddy Pullys
Apexi Turbo Timer
Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood
XXR 521s 18x8.5 (front) 18x10.5 (Rear)

Cons:
Interior is stripped from the rear seats back, and in general the interior is not the best condition
No passenger airbag (the dash pad is included though)
The dash need to be re-installed correctly (the previous owner left the climate controls and factory radio disconnected)
passenger window need to be correcly alligned
The fenders and hood need to be properly alligned
Rocker panel damage (brand new OEM piece is included)
Rear quarter panel dent

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Toyota confirms all-wheel drive V8 hybrid for TS040 LMP1 car in 2014

Sun, 02 Feb 2014

The 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship is gearing up to be one of the most exciting seasons of endurance racing in recent memory. All of the factory-entered LMP1 class cars are using hybrid powertrains, and Porsche is returning to the top class of the sport after a 16-year absence. Don't count out Toyota, though. The team has just revealed the first official details about its 2014 TS040 LMP1 car, and it has a big surprise - all-wheel drive.
The TS040 will follow Audi's lead and will use a combination motor and generator to power the front wheels. The system will generate power under braking and will use it up when accelerating to give a boost in traction over last year's rear-wheel-drive Toyota TS030. Toyota will stick with a gasoline-fueled, naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V8 to feed the rear wheels and will take on Audi's diesel, turbocharged 3.7-liter V6 and Porsche's gasoline-fueled, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
Sadly, there are no real pictures of the TS040 yet. Toyota is holding off on unveiling the car until the end of March at the WEC test at the Paul Ricard circuit, and the racing season doesn't begin until April 20 with the 6 Hours of Silverstone. You can read the whole press release about the TS040 below.

Toyota FT-86 Open Concept leaves us feeling flushed

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

When last we checked in on our topless would-be hero, the Toyota FT-86 convertible had been reportedly placed on "indefinite hold." That was back in early October, not long after Toyota had trotted out the rear-wheel-drive canvasback to Scion dealers as a possible future product carrot if they decided not to turn in their franchises. And yet, we're here at the Tokyo Motor Show, where Toyota has taken the time to at least repaint the FT-86 Open Concept in "Flash Red," if not build a whole other car (the original Geneva showcar was white). It's enough to make our heads spin like a teenager on the verge of a breakup. Will they? Won't they?
At this point, we still don't know any more than you do - the last word we heard out of Toyota was not encouraging, although the story was that the program could still be fast-tracked if management had a change of heart. As the car has never been seen before in Japan, perhaps Toyota is merely extending its domestic audience a courtesy view before it lines this showcar in mothballs, or maybe they're still trying to make a decision on its fate and gauging public reaction on the homefront.
Interestingly, in a new story published today, Automotive News quotes Subaru brand boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga downplaying the likelihood of a production model, saying flatly "We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen." The executive went on to note, "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change." Given that such a car would probably trade in rather small volumes, that sounds like a significant hurtle.
