1973 Porsche 911T Early 911s embody a combination that is rare among collector cars today. They have unparalleled drivability and usability, especially when compared with other cars of the same vintage, but are also wholly evocative of a different era. There is a certain wholeness, cohesiveness, agility, and communicativeness that is only evident when they are driven, and it is no surprise that they have a fanatical following. For many years, however, they were just used cars, which makes finding genuinely solid examples which have been continuously cared throughout the cars life difficult today. All early 911s have appreciated tremendously in recent years and the late cars (1972 and 1973), are the ultimate development of the long hood 911. This particular car is desirably equipped with a factory late SC 3.0L engine and has had ordered in a very particular Color: Gold. Other options include S instruments, Fuchs and Webasto heater. Cosmetically, the car is an attractive solid level example. The car has been repainted I white, paint is in no very good condition, with some touched in chips here and there, suggesting. There are some light scratches all over but never in a major accident. The panels are straight, solid, and fit well, with no evidence of rust. The floors are is very good throughout, with some light surface scratches but no major pitting or other issues. The glass and lights are very good. The seats are gone, was lost when previous owner started the restoration process, so have that in mind, no seats ok ? dash is honest in appearance and in ok condition, the instruments are nice, with some patina consistent with an unrestored car that spent most of its life inside in a mild climate, the steering wheel itself is in nice original condition. The engine compartment unrestored and is honest and stock in appearance with the overall feel is of a wholesome unmolested car. There are signs of recent maintenance including new spark plug wires and distributor cap. The inner fenders and battery boxes are solid and pleasingly original in appearance. The undercarriage is similarly nice with original floors. Overall, the structure is wonderfully solid and original. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a structurally wonderful factory Gold 911T . Having spent most of its life in California, the car has an excellent structure and has a nice honest presentation of a car that can be restored. Or made a Singer Style .Starting with a solid base. It runs and drives well but could use some work in order to have it road worthy... This great 911 will appeal to the buyer who prefers honesty over outright gloss.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS revealed in patent photos

Fri, 01 Aug 2014

Porsche has been taking its time developing the most hardcore 911 models for the latest 991 chassis. While the GT3 has been on the market for a little while, it suffered from some teething issues. The 911 GT3 RS is certainly on the radar since being spotted testing, but it's always better to get a look at a new car without all of the camo to hide the coolest parts. Thankfully, Car in the UK has some patent photos of the RS ahead of its debut, and they show off one mean-looking 911.
The first thing that you notice about the RS is that Porsche clearly isn't afraid to rework the latest 911's shape for its track-focused version. Each piece is slightly resculpted to squeeze the most out of it. Up front, the air dam has the same shape to the earlier photos. They also both highlight the upcoming model's tiny air inlet at the tip of the hood, the massive intakes in the rear fenders and general design of the rear wing with a ducktail underneath. The bubbled roof is much clearer here, where it was disguised in spy shots. You can also spot the slashing fender gills behind the front wheels that are a completely new feature.
The GT3 RS is the ultimate naturally aspirated 911 for the street, but according to Car, Porsche aims to take that even farther with the latest model. If these are the looks, then it's working. Unfortunately, the new version's powerplant remains a mystery. Though, given all the changes to the bodywork, the engine is almost surely getting tweaked over the 475-horsepower GT3. The RS is rumored to hit the road and be screaming down the track in 2015.

Porsche teams with Delta airlines to woo VIP passengers

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

The next time you're waiting for a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, see if you can spot a Porsche Cayenne or Panamera zipping between aircraft on the busy tarmac. The high-performance German vehicles aren't there practicing for an upcoming autocross; they are tasked with whisking some of the airline's most important customers between flights so they can keep their busy schedules intact.
Launched nearly two years ago, the program has proven popular with the automaker, airline and passengers as all benefit from the unique arrangement. Atlanta-based Porsche is able to showcase its cars to Delta's frequent-flying Medallion members, the airline is recognized for providing unusual perks to its high-value customers and those fortunate enough to be surprised with a quick lift are able to make connections without a stressful run through the terminal. Based on its success, the airline is rolling our similar programs in New York, Los Angeles and Minneapolis this month.
And don't think Porsche is the only automaker working with an airline to entice its frequent flyers. Mercedes-Benz ran a program over the summer that offered purchasing and leasing incentives to MileagePlus Premier members of United Airlines, and the two are currently shuttling top fliers around Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport in the automaker's S-Class and GL-Class models.

Jay Leno chats with Magnus Walker about his 1972 Porsche 911 72STR

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Magnus Walker has stopped by the Big Dog Garage again to pay Jay Leno a visit in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage. This time, the Porsche builder brought along his 1972 911 72STR 002. Walker calls the machine his best build to date, and the car is a rolling "best of" from Porsches past, rocking some of the more attractive elements pulled from a wide arc of 911 model years. Of course, the machine also wears a few signature Walker touches, including flush-mount turning indicators, a center-hood fuel filler and plenty of louver work.
Unlike some of Walker's other creations, the 72STR 002 is clean enough to lick. Leno seems suitably impressed with the creation, and while apparently isn't typically a fan of Porsche models in general, Walker's tastefully modified 911 has him singing a different tune. You can check out the car in the video below.
