I bought this 1988 Pontiac Trans AM GTA just a couple day ago. This car has had the same owner over the last 10 years. I drove this car home 25 miles and ran it 65 mph on the highway home. This car has sat for a few years the previous owner put a new fuel pump in the easy way by cutting a hole in the trunk to get to it please pic. Also has a 5 month old battery. The car starts fine but hesitates bad like the TPS or EGR or something is bad. Transmission shifts good the engine sounds god with flowmaster exhaust. I believe this is a real GTA but I have no paperwork or know how to tell. Please look at all pics this car is very solid but has all the common f-body problems. It needs everything gone through it runs and drives but its wore out just trying to be honest. Car is a 5.7 liter car with T-tops and steering wheel controls but no radio. Has factory wheels 2 center caps missing headlites do not go up or down (common) The hood will stay open on its own the rear hatch will not. Its had a different hatch put on it I don't know why. Has a dented right fender and a dent in the right quarter panel tail lite is broke. There is some surface rust on one wheel lip see pic. 4 wheel disc brakes rear end still has the tag I did a few donuts posi seems to work and had no noise when I drove it home. Windows work slow speedometer and tach works oil pressure gauge works and had good pressure. temp gauge did not work and the cruise did not work. Missing headliner and sunvisors. has factory GTA seats the left one is not bolted down. Left fender has small dents hood has dings windshield is not broke dome lite works. Im sure the a/c doesn't work. Floor pans look good trunk pans look good. Ive got this car priced right it will part out for what im asking but its too good to junk. White GTA Trans Ams bring good money and are rising in price and this is a 350 car. I ordered a speed title today it will come back in a friend of mines car lot name. I should have it within 5 business days it will be clear and ready to transfer to ne owner. Im selling this car as/is great restoration project or weekend fixer upper. If you have the car shipped I will work with your shipper on pick as much as I can. I have the car stored inside it can sit for a reasonable amount of time. Car has to be paid for in full within 7 days of auctions end non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auctions end. No exceptions. Serious buyers only these auctions cost money. if your serious you can text or call Billy 270-564-3996 Actual mileage unknown due to age.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
