2001 Mercedes-benz Clk320 V6 3.2l Convertible on 2040-cars
Arlington, Virginia, United States
The CLK is one of the best cars Mercedes ever made. It combines the convertible fun with enough space to seat five people and plenty of trunk capacity. The car is in a very good shape mechanically. It recently passed VA mechanical and emissions inspections, and the engine runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. I am getting around 30 miles per gallon fuel consumption on open highway. The AC blows cold as it should, and heating/seat heaters work fine as well. The car has heated leather seats, Bose audio system with 6CD changer, and Xenon headlights. I am including a spare tire/rim, matching spare rim, and the original wind deflector (which sells on eBay for $500). MAF sensor, temp sensor, and thermostat were replaced recently. This car has a brilliant silver exterior, dove gray interior, and a rare gray fabric soft top. The color combination greatly helps keep the car cool in hot summer days. You are looking at a really good car, but please remember that it is 13 years old and it will have some minor dents and dings and wear on the soft top. There's a crack on the front bumper after someone recently backed into me while parked, but that should be an easy fix at any body shop. The wheels need alignment as well, and that costs $100 at the dealer. The car has 135k miles, mostly highway. Asking price is $7000, but I am willing to consider all serious offers. Please contact me to see the vehicle or if you have any questions before making any offers. |

New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]
Sat, 16 Feb 2013It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."
Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold
Wed, 08 Feb 2012Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
Daimler buying 12% stake in Beijing Auto
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Daimler and Beijing Automotive are officially going steady, with the German company set to take a 12-percent stake in the Chinese brand tomorrow. The two are already tied up in a Mercedes engine plant in Beijing, of which BAIC will increase its stake in, from 50 to 51 percent. Daimler will also get two seats on the Chinese company's board. BAIC may also gain the ability to produce cars on Mercedes-Benz platforms, according to Automotive News Europe.
The investment in BAIC comes ahead of that company's initial public offering, according to a report form Bloomberg, which indicates the deal will be inked tomorrow in the Chinese capital. According to the report, if the circumstances are right, BAIC may turn around and invest in the Germany company "soon."
It's not entirely clear just how much the 12-percent cut is costing Daimler, although it seems reasonable to assume that, as it's ahead of the IPO, the parent company of Mercedes is getting a bit of a bargain.
